Great service and good food...can't go wrong!

A truly beautiful, delicious restaurant. As it is set back from the main strip there is a more local atmosphere. The menu has a good choice and the value for money is actually incredible! I chose tagliatelle with ragu, and there was a generous amount of pasta and meat. Their house wine was excellent, and the service simple, polite and... More

Such a nice surprise to stumble in here and have one of the BEST meals of our trip! It was a busy night in Florence with the Fashion Shows going on, so geting a seat at any restaurant was near impossible. We originally tried getting a table at the restaurant next door, but am glad we got in here instead.... More

A local told us about Birreria. What a find located near Dante's house of birth. Delicious, fresh ingredients. Best hamburger I've ever had in my life! Beef was unlike any other I've tasted. Was topped with a thick slab of fried mozzarella. Potatoes were divine. Everything on the plate was thoughtfully prepared. Even the thin garnish slice of cucumber was... More

We stumbled upon this trattoria on the small Piazza Cimatori, near the Bargello Museum and stopped for lunch. The restaurant's patio area takes up a good bit of the piazza, so it's easy to sit outside. My husband and I split a pasta sampler plate -- a large plate of three different pastas -- and a salad and that was... More

There are standard Italian restaurants everywhere in the touristy area in Florence, and you get the feeling that most are adequate while a few might be really good, and Trip Advisor reviews don't seem to help much around here. So we stumbled into this place primarily because 1) it looked crowded, and 2) it was close to where we were... More

We were actually directed here by the maitre d' of our first choice - which was full. We asked him for a good recommendation and, after some thought, he sent us to Birreria Central. I cannot imagine that our first choice could have been much better. The food, atmosphere, and waitress all contributed to a wonderful evening meal. We arrived... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
