Trattoria Mario was a fun lunch in Florence. It is small, with a super tiny kitchen. The staff is efficient. We shared the ribollita soup and the bistecca alla fiorentina. The food was fantastic, and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Florence. Get there early, and know they are only open for lunch.

We enjoyed the inner downstairs hidden room inside. It was beautiful and authentic. The meat was great and we were eager for more (we took to t-bone :) ).

Very unique restaurant! Quick service, but the restaurant is small, and you are at communal tables, but it is WORTH it! Great foood and great prices!!!

Be prepared to share your desk with strangers and listen people talking loud. But the food is delicious, specially the pasta with pomodoro sauce. Prices are reasonable. It's a good choice.

Arrived for our second visit (the first was years ago) for lunch with a group of 8 and no reservations. Mario's is so popular that several other restaurants have opened nearby to take advantage of the overflow. We were greeted with a "can do" attitude and within minutes we were whisked to a room below the restaurant. We tried several... More

Dining at Trattoria Mario was one of the most authentic experiences I had in all of Italy. Tables are shared by guests so all seats are constantly full. Reasonably priced menu changes daily and is in Italian, both signs of a great restaurant in Italy. Open only for lunch and located near the Mercato Centrale. If you are in Florence,... More

I arrived at about Mid-day and there was already a full restaurant and a line up outside. Luckily I was dining alone and was able to join another solo diner's table. I was dying to try the steak alla florentina as I had just visited an organic winery/cattle farm near Pisa. The steak is huge, you pay a price depending... More

Officially opens for business at 12:00, but turn up before to snag a seat at this great little place. The menu is changed daily, and on Fridays its fantastic sea food, my squid soup was out of this world! Other days its the usual - Steaks served in fresh traditional sauces and the best pasta i've had in Florence -... More

Yes, this place is small and crowded, but it is worth it if you love steak. The chef really knows how to cook the steak the best way.

This is more than a place to eat. It is a place to meet people. When I first visited 15 years ago it was a lot of locals. Now, it is mostly tourists. But nonetheless, it is still a great experience to share a small table with other travelers and enjoy real Tuscan food at ridiculously reasonable prices. Get there... More
