It would be an absolute shame to come to Florence and not have lunch at Trattoria Mario. The family run restaurant is really one of the best and a great place to blend in with the locals. Everything on the menu is good and fresh, and the the prices are honest. Just be prepared to wait!

We waited a half hour for two people. The food is fresh, simple (in a great way), super tasty, and reasonable in a great atmosphere (prepare to share a small table with others). Go for it. By the way, contrary to the info I read about this place they do take credit cards.

This is the pasta you came to Italy for. Simple, no frills restaurant with transcendent pasta. And a great opportunity to meet natives or other tourists in this bustling trattoria, where no seat can afford to be wasted. If you're looking for an authentic Florence experience, this is it. Only open for lunch.

In Florence is so hard to find a restaurant that is not a fast food for tourist and a big trap. I was very happy to go to Mario folowing a recomendation from a Italian friend. Arrive early or late for lunch and you be very happy to eat as a Italian! Good price for good real food.

We visited Trattoria Mario on a recommendation from someone who used to live in Florence for a while. We were not disappointed! We went there specifically to have the Bistecca Fiorentina. The restaurant works on a communal/shared table basis as it is quite small, but this adds to the experience. We arrived at 12.30pm just before the rush which leaves... More

Touristy but authentic. Fabulous, efficient service, buzzing atmosphere. The food...wow! First time... Ravioli, veal chop, pork chop, roast rabbit, patate fritte. Next day...pork chop, roast chicken, spaghetti calamari. Perfection!

I'm not even a huge steak person, but the steak here was amazing. We went early and shared a steak among the 2 of us. I still think about the steak to this day... if all steaks were like their steak, I'd eat meat more often. It's not fancy - but it's the type of place that makes you feel... More

This restaurant was recommended by our friends and tried to go on the first day we arrived in Florence. It was around 1:30 and clear that we were not getting in for at least another hour and a half. We decided to try again on our last day, this time not making the same mistake and arriving at 11:50am. We... More
