Maybe the expectations were too high after reading all the reviews, or maybe we did not order the right dish. We have waited for a little more than half an hour which was fine for us, and the service was good. It is a busy little restaurant and you can tell they value the freshness of their food. The meat... Small restaurant, always a wait, but worth it. Generally small parties are seated with each other which adds to the family-meal atmosphere. Really friendly staff (it's been family owned and run since the 50's) and the beef is excellent, as are all the other dishes made daily. Also listed as a 'Slow Food' restaurant (Slow Food is a movement started... More

Had our first meal of our trip here and it set the bar high! Had to wait for a table but he took our name and told us when to go back. Food was worth the wait! Everything we ordered was delicious, I had a good hunk of beef which was just delicious, had a divine flavour and have never... More

I have a soft spot for Marios because when I lived in Florence many years ago it was the go to place to eat lunch as it was around the corner from school. It was so very blue collar Italian. Some of the things that people who wrote poor reviews hated about it, were the things that I found so... More

I planned to visit this place before, during my previous visits to Florence, and I’m highly pleased that I’ve done it! It was fantastic experience! On the one hand, It’s not a typical touristic restaurant, trattoria or osteria, but one the other hand it’s very popular among tourist, and it’s worth it! At first glance, it looks like a busy... We had a great experience here. The food is deceptively simple but very well prepared. The portions can be very large so be careful. I had a fabulous pasta with meat sauce and it was the very best of my trip. My wife had the tomato sauce and it was wonderful. I made the mistake of ordering a steak too.... More

We went here based on recommendations and reviews, including many in Italian, from numerous sources during a recent trip to Italy. We were in Florence two days and ate here both days. The place is small and gets packed soon after opening, and is only open for lunch. I had the best pasta of my life, two days in a... More

Mario's is a small trattoria. Expect to share your table with strangers. Their menu is limited but we did enjoy the Pot roast. We had the pasta (tortelinni and penne) and they were ordinary.

What a wonderful place. Fresh pasta, tasty wines and an electric atmosphere. Order and eat, when you are finished you walk up to the resister and tell them what you had. No check just smiles. Very cool. Place is very cozy (you potentially share your table with strangers) but it adds to the ambiance. A must in Florence.

I just assumed this place had pasta, pizza etc. it is almost all meat. Just wanted to share that for all my fellow vegetarians. I did end up getting a vegetable soup that wasn't bad but if I had known I wouldn't have gone here.
