Dining at Trattoria Mario was one of the most authentic experiences I had in all of Italy. Tables are shared by guests so all seats are constantly full. Reasonably priced menu changes daily and is in Italian, both signs of a great restaurant in Italy. Open only for lunch and located near the Mercato Centrale. If you are in Florence,... More

I arrived at about Mid-day and there was already a full restaurant and a line up outside. Luckily I was dining alone and was able to join another solo diner's table. I was dying to try the steak alla florentina as I had just visited an organic winery/cattle farm near Pisa. The steak is huge, you pay a price depending... More

Officially opens for business at 12:00, but turn up before to snag a seat at this great little place. The menu is changed daily, and on Fridays its fantastic sea food, my squid soup was out of this world! Other days its the usual - Steaks served in fresh traditional sauces and the best pasta i've had in Florence -... More

Yes, this place is small and crowded, but it is worth it if you love steak. The chef really knows how to cook the steak the best way.

This is more than a place to eat. It is a place to meet people. When I first visited 15 years ago it was a lot of locals. Now, it is mostly tourists. But nonetheless, it is still a great experience to share a small table with other travelers and enjoy real Tuscan food at ridiculously reasonable prices. Get there... More

They are only open for lunch which is a shame, but they fill up quickly. We fortunately got there right when they opened so we got a table easily. It's communal seating so it's crowded and not exactly private. And their menu changes so it's posted on the wall which is a little confusing and hard to read. But their... More

We visited Mario's a little over two years ago and FELL IN LOVE! The atmosphere. The food. The people. We had never experienced anything like it! We loved it so much we went back the very next day. Fast forward two years and we were planning another trip to Italy. We had already seen Florence but we loved Mario's so... More

This place was a pleasant surprise in florence. while the food was extremely cheap for italian standards, the quality was good. Found the atmosphere to be quite fun/energetic and had a better time than at Sostanza the other night. It is a very busy place, but turn over seems to be quick, maybe a 20-30 min wait.

We only had a few hours in Florence and we had to make a tough decision: line-up to see the Statue David or go eat at Mario's (recommended to us by another traveler). We made a GREAT decision! We put ourselves on the list (only open for lunch and packed!) and waited for about 30 minutes outside. It was well... More
