Went here this afternoon to experience the craze myself. It's true! Best steak I had! It's reasonably priced too which is great! :-)

The only con is the short open hours: 12-3:30pm...They are always packed so I guess they need their rest! If you go do it when they open...it's a bit too early for locals to show up for lunch and it's your chance to avoid a long waiting line since they don't take reservations. They'll sit you wherever but that's fine... More

Right near the leather market this restaurant is as Italian as it gets. Of course due to TA there are tons of tourists like us but the atmosphere is authentic Italian. You might share a table and it's loud but bread us homemade n warm, great Tuscan wine n olive oil along w fresh salad. We had the florentine steak.... More

Trattoria Mario offers good food with an unpretentious atmosphere. Open only for lunch, this place gets packed even in the off season, so be prepared to possibly share a table with strangers. We tried the huge, juicy, Bisteca alla Fiorentina, which was 1.2kg for 4 persons. If you're a "real" meat eater like me, I could of split this steak... More

I visit this place few days ago after searching the web for an original trattoria in Firenze.I don't know how they managed to have so high critics but i know that this pace its a place to avoid. The famous Bistecca Fiorentina arrived over cooked and it was a normal steak not an original TBone steak like it has to be,the... And if you want to have a memorable cultural experience in Tuscan cuisine, I highly recommend Trattoria Mario a few blocks from the outdoor market in Florence. As we waited outside for our luncheon table, we met others who had also searched out this restaurant and others who frequented it regularly. We were in for a real treat as we... More

This small out of the way eatery -- which is open only between 12 & 3 BTW -- is a real find in a number of regards. . Service The place is small and usually full and busy. So there is not a lot of time for wait staff to chit-chat & schmooze or socialize but …. they are still... More

Trattoria Mario was our favorite restaurant on our two-week trip to Italy! My husband and I were looking for a restaurant to provide a true Italian meal experience, and this one did. The restaurant serves good, simple Italian comfort food. It has a "dive" feel to it, but this is essential to the experience. At the restaurant you will likely... More

When you go in this typical Tuscany restaurant, you have a really good sensation for the people and the food you can eat! The reservation is when you arrive not before. we ate in the same table with other people. For me it's a fantastic thing ;) Very reccomended!
