Good food, but a bit hectic serving

We had some expectations about the place; among others the size of the fiorentina steak, but we also had heard the place is a bit touristic and hectic. The waiter presented around 4 starters (antipasti), 4 first courses and 4 main courses, and 4 desserts. We chose to share a plate of mixed... read more

This is the type of restaurant that just brings you food .....and lots of it. They start with prosciutto and melon which is great and a delicious farro salad. The mozzarella di Buffalo is ok and I didn't like the liver on bread - something I would never order. Bring a tourist in Italy I was really looking forward to... More

A waiter in a cafe recommend this restaurant when we asked for somewhere with good steak. Well it didn't disappoint, fantastic eating experience from start to finish. We were surprised that we didn't get menus, but the food and drinks that followed were fit for a king. Seriously! And the biggest surprise was the value for money's the the end!!... More

I likes the oral menu presented to us by out waiter was very friendly and helpful. He even called a cab for us after dinner. The food was really good-great Tuscan fare. The wine list is amazing as well. would definitely dine there again.

A group of 7 visited this restaurant. After a misunderstanding with the set menu we opted for ala carte. This was obviously not to the liking of the staff. There attitude was arrogant and unhelpful. Food was just average and when one of the party asked for his steak to be cooked a little more (as he had requested when... More

Very kind waiter, we ate a lot paying around 25€ per person. Recommended for a typical and relaxed lunch in the city centre.

This is definitely a tourist restaurant. Even if you make a reservation (and you must), you still have to wait outside around 7 or 7:30 pm because they don't really open the doors until 7:30pm and it is chaos before they do. I went with an Italian and he insisted on seeing the menu instead of having the waiter suggest... More

To do full justice to this you should not eat the day before. It was very crowded like a rugby scrum when the restaurant opened at 730 with all 4,00 people claiming to have reservations. They have an ala carte menu but they don't want to sell that. Whatever you do, you probably should not order the Fiorentina steak unless... More

Yes, it's famous. Yes, it's touristy. But - please - go! I say this as an Italian born in Tuscany and used to great food. Da il Latini delivers, especially if you have friends in town. It's such a fun spot. The food is very good, the wine ample, and the service friendly and efficient. You will eat a lot,... More

Made our first mistake in Florence. We had three nights in Florence and wanted to choose wisely. Did our research beforehand but was quite disappointed with Il Latini. Made the reservation from the hotel through the concierge and should have taken the hint from them that this may not be ideal. They only do 2 seatings a day for dinner... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
