Service was near non-existent, the wine list was there for show & most of the wines weren't available at all, food was average at best. I really wonder why this poor excuse of a 'Florentine Establishment' got its high ratings. They put all tourists in one room, providing terrible service and food, in the end, we asked twice for the... More

Fortunate to have dined here with a group in the wine cellar. We enjoyed a multi-course dinner with a wine for each course. Food was fabulous. I have talked to others that have eaten in the main part of the restaurant with the same opinion of the dishes they enjoyed. A must for anyone spending some time in Florence and... More

This restaurant had been recommended. Make sure you are hungry when you go. We arrived at 7.30pm opening time and there was a queue of diners - some having reservations and others not having booked. Those who had reservations were shown to their tables, and those without were directed upstairs, presumably to the communal dining area which we had read about.... More

I had the worst food experience of a whole 2 weeks trip there : The menus are in italian only, if you don't speak it, the waiters will barely pause to rush you through it. I ended up ordering without understanding the implications. There is no antipasti to speak of. Nor wine. Their "florentine bifteck" could as well simply be... More

We were in Florence for an opera event and we decided to have lunch once more at this restaurant. Service was friendly and efficient as always in the last thirty years (read if you like our previous reviews). Delicious antipasto with Tuscan crostini, prosciutto and honey melon, finocchiona salami and spelt salad. Excellent penne strascicate with meat and tomato sauce,... More

Exactly as was said, it is an experience in itself, albeit with excellent food. We had the advantage of being seated next to an American couple who had been here before, which meant that the four of us soon were offered a better table. The service and the food was excellent, partly because of the habitué at the table. All... More

During a month vacation through Italy we came across this restaurant because of a friends recommendation. This was the only restaurant during our entire trip that we visited 3 times!!! The staff and the food was excellent!!!! Please don't leave Florence without having a florentine steak at this place!!

The most unbelievable veal chops we ever had. Roasted to perfection with no fat accept what was crippled around the edges. The value of the century. We had an exquisite and totally memorable meal for a mere $70E with wine and their complimentary Vin Santo and Contucci. Also, the service was lovely, responsive, friendly and helpful in every way. Truly... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
