Description: At L’Osteria di Giovanni we not only maintain strict allegiance to traditional Tuscan dishes (including many antique recipes that are not commonly used these days), but we also experiment with new flavours and combinations, whilst remaining faithful to local and season produce. Popular new dishes include smoked duck breast on rocket salad and dressed in balsamic vinaigrette, tortelli stuffed with pear and pecorino, with leek and paprika sauce, pici with sausage and kale, and lamb slow-cooked with artichokes. We stronly believe that your restaurant experience should be unique and satisfying on every front. We look forward to welcoming you one day to L'Osteria di Giovanni.

we booked this restaurant on the recommendation of our hotel and had a really fun evening. as previous reviewers have pointed out the staff are very friendly, you get lots of complimentary food bits and drinks. Glass of prosecco when you order your food, other nibbles, biscotti, dessert wine and grappa. myself and my partner shared all of our courses... More

We've been here on recommendation of our hotel staff. It was a great evening. The menu is not very long but for each course you get 2 additional recommendations of the day by your very helpful waiter. Already the house wine tasted really good. If you want to share your courses, they bring them one in time and provide additional... More

Go now! Not for the thrifty, but so very worth the price. They start you with Coccoli (Tuscan Fried Bread) and complimentary Prosecco. They end with complimentary biscotti and Vin Santo. In between you select from a luscious array of choices. We mostly went with their various specials of the day which our waiter David enthusiastically told as about. If... More

Hurrah for a fabulous review with perfect Italian spelling! Well done. And we think a small Hurrah too for David - and his very dry sense of humour. Thank you so much for writing everything here in such precise and correct detail. This was a pleasure to read for us, and probably most helpful to others reading here. Come back one... More

Was looking forward to have an early dinner with my friend at this Popular Restaurant. With only one table taken the waiter turn us away. Maybe they don't want young people there !!!!!!! Shame

Oohh - that's a little unfair :-) We really dislike turning anyone away, but as our restaurant is 80/90% booked every single night, sometimes we have to. Empty tables doesn't mean we have free tables - someone somewhere is getting dressed, slipping on their shoes, leaving the house, in a bus/taxi/train/car and making their way to us for their very... For my wife this was the best restaurant in Florence. For me it was the second best. I highly recommend it for high quality Tuscan cuisine, but be careful as it is ultra expensive. As always in Florence, the house wine was superb. Try the Lombatina on the grill. It probably is superior to the bistecca Fiorentina, but it is... More

We had such an incredible time at this restaurant on our last night in Firenze. Although we didn't think to make a reservation, the waiter seated us quickly and kindly - the glass of Prosecco as we waited helped too! The food was just absolutely amazing - from the burrata, to the rabbit, and the cantucci. Even though they were... More

We love the enthusiasm with which you have written this review. It even makes us excited about our place of work! Thank you so much for coming to our restaurant, if you stay with us on facebook we just might have a go at squeezing that recipe out of Nicola in the kitchen (but he is famously non-forthcoming with his... We went to Osteria di Giovanni for dinner one of the nights we were in Florence. It was a beautiful restaurant with very friendly front of house staff. Waiters were alright as well although kind of brief... Food. We were started off with a platter of fried bread. We had the house special antipasto, and the helping was more than... More

The highlight is definitely the wine list. Fantastic local selection. Traditional Tuscan food done well. A little old italian man greets you and shows you to your table. We had Tuscan vegetable soup which was amazing. The steak was ok but probably would suggest trying other dishes. The hospitality and service of the staff was also impeccable

We will show this to Giovanni himself! He is the "little old man" - absolutely true - and has been in the restaurant business all his life and knows about making people feel welcome and considered. If you feel like dropping us a line to tell us what was not good about your steak it would be helpful - just... More

What a lovely experience. While the food wasn't the best ever, it was overshadowed by the genuineness of the service and their old fashioned but generous attitude to hospitality. From the complimentary Prosucco to start and the deep fried snack, to the glass of dessert wine and biscotti brought with the bill. And then after paying we were offered delicious... More

Our aim really is to provide a totally memorable experience (and we would also like our food to be "blow your socks off" good too - will work on that!) and so we are delighted that we achieved that.
