At L’Osteria di Giovanni we not only maintain strict allegiance to traditional Tuscan dishes (including many antique recipes that are not commonly used these days), but we also experiment with new flavours and combinations, whilst remaining faithful to local and season produce. Popular new dishes include smoked duck breast on rocket salad and dressed in balsamic vinaigrette, tortelli stuffed with pear and pecorino, with leek and paprika sauce, pici with sausage and kale, and lamb slow-cooked with artichokes. We stronly believe that your restaurant experience should be unique and satisfying on every front. We look forward to welcoming you one day to L'Osteria di Giovanni.

This place was phenomenal. Went with my wife on our honeymoon. Flávio gave us unreal service. It was like he knew us for a lifetime. Treated us like family. Met The owner Giovanni and he was such a class act. Had the fiorentina steak and it was the best piece of meat I've ever tasted. The wine list is amazing.... More

We ate here in Sept 2014 during our 1 night stay in Florence. Staff was wonderful! Food was perfect and reasonably priced. I recommend the potato raviolini and the veal ossobuco. I wanted to try everything though... We booked a reservation via email months before our departure and it seems that might be necessary... I highly recommend this restaurant if... More

We have been coming to Italy for over 30 years and thought we had eaten at all of the very best places. We even found Lattini on our very first visit. Who would expect to find out about his brother's restaurant from friends of ours who live here. Giovani's is a lovely restaurant that we spent 2.5 hours in. They... More

Our hotel concierge recommended this quiet place that's family owned for our last night in Florence and we wished that we had discovered it sooner! Food was excellent! We had roast sucking pig that had crispy skin and melt in your mouth meat! Service was great! Will definitely be back!

We would love to see you back again. Next time by sure to try something else - lots of people get hooked in the suckling pig and can't move on, but there are lots of other dishes to try! More

Spent 10 nights in Italy, four of them in Florence. Giovanni's was one of the highlights of our dining experiences. Had two dinners there including our last night. Everything from the food to the wine to the service to the atmosphere was special. I recommend it highly and hope to return someday.

This was by far one of my favorite meals on my trip to Europe this past summer. This charming little restaurant is pack because it’s so dang good and the wait staff is fantastic! Prior to being seated we were offered presecco and fried bread while we waited for our table. This is a very traditional Italian restaurant so we... More

Had a delicious dinner at L'osteria di Giovanni. Everything was perfect - the recommendations from the staff, the food itself as well as the wine. We had among others tuna carpaccio, rabbit and pork. Portions are very generous. The staff is very busy, nevertheless they have a great sense of humour. Lots of tourists as customers, and we all were... More

Oh no! We don't do anything so mean as to separate people according to their passports - we promise. Lots of locals and Florentines know us well and tend to book with a sitting location preference - many love noisy and rather rowdy front room! Come back one time and we will be sure to seat you with some lovely... More

We had a lovely meal here, can't fault it and the service was spot on. This restaurant was recommended by our hotel and the food did not disappoint. Varied Menu and something for everyone with recommendations from the waiter and a good selection of specials. The only down point would be the very close proximity of the tables, almost claustrophobic.... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
