At L’Osteria di Giovanni we not only maintain strict allegiance to traditional Tuscan dishes (including many antique recipes that are not commonly used these days), but we also experiment with new flavours and combinations, whilst remaining faithful to local and season produce. Popular new dishes include smoked duck breast on rocket salad and dressed in balsamic vinaigrette, tortelli stuffed with pear and pecorino, with leek and paprika sauce, pici with sausage and kale, and lamb slow-cooked with artichokes. We stronly believe that your restaurant experience should be unique and satisfying on every front. We look forward to welcoming you one day to L'Osteria di Giovanni.

Good food, nice and clean

This was our second dinner meal in Florence and the food was great and the service was nice. The only thing preventing five stars was that it was so hot and loud. Still a great place I would recommend.

If you're looking for a relaxed, cozy and homey spot to have a fabulous dinner, this is the place for you. The servers are very nice and attentive. We had salads, pastas and dessert. They also serve you delicious biscotti and vin santo following your meal! A nice touch. And great location not too far off the path along the... More

We paid 73euro for 1 bistecca and 1 bottle of house wine and we had to wait 15 minutes till we get a table, although we had a reservation. The food was nice, but the place is nothing special and there are no tables with view. Service was fine.

We ate here on honeymoon after researching restaurants. We certainly weren't disappointed with our find. Staff were excellent, friendly, and a good sense of humour, creating a lovely ambience. We ate a ridiculous amount of food and probably over-ordered but it was all superb - antipasti meat platter to share, pappardelle with homemade ragu (favourite dish), seafood pasta, seabass, suckling... I love this restaurant! From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by a warm, welcoming glow and incredibly pleasant staff. At all four of my visits, I saw Caterina and Giovanni moving around the dining rooms, interacting with guests, making sure everyone gets the best service. As you enter, you are given a glass of prosecco and delicious... More

The good: very kind and welcoming staff, buzzy atmosphere, complimentary glass of prosecco, delicious fried dough balls, cantuccini & vin santo. The bad: burnt fillet mignon, unpleasantly raw and fatty on the inside; ok pasta, I ordered the daily fish pasta special with fresh tuna and zucchini. This is a nice place, very touristy though, with reasonably good food. I... More

Reserved one month out and it was necessary. Very popular, filled up fast after we arrived at 7:30 PM. Wait staff friendly, cordial, helpful, but the food was very good. We had a fish and a pasta dish that were excellent. Fun place, lively, not rushed to turn tables, a very good meal. Would go back next time in Florence,... More

We found L'Osteria di Giovanni based on a recommendation from a Lonely Planet guide and we were so glad that we did. We hadn't booked - I recommend that you do, don't risk missing out! - but the staff were able to find us a table. We were looked after superbly, and treated to lots of extras like deep fried...
