Description: At L’Osteria di Giovanni we not only maintain strict allegiance to traditional Tuscan dishes (including many antique recipes that are not commonly used these days), but we also experiment with new flavours and combinations, whilst remaining faithful to local and season produce. Popular new dishes include smoked duck breast on rocket salad and dressed in balsamic vinaigrette, tortelli stuffed with pear and pecorino, with leek and paprika sauce, pici with sausage and kale, and lamb slow-cooked with artichokes. We stronly believe that your restaurant experience should be unique and satisfying on every front. We look forward to welcoming you one day to L'Osteria di Giovanni.

On our first night we went here and had a fabulous meal. We ordered the steak Fiorentini and knew what was coming so did not order a starter. We were given some very nice warm toasted Ciabatta with Olive Oil, whilst we waited, which was a nice touch. Then came the steak. Cooked to perfection, dark brown on the outside... More

We made reservation and were seated right away. The place seemed a little formal and waiters were very professional. We shared a house antipasto and a florentine steak. Both portion were very generous. Steak was sold by weight( €50 per kg). Waiter never asked how we like it when took our steak order. It came out extra rare. And we... More

Massimo the waiter (and Flávio) really made the evening. Two Brits with phrase book Italian were made to feel like part of the family. The food was also excellent, I ordered the veal steak but Massimo also brought out a large chunk of the suckling pig "to try", when does that happen?? The limoncello and vino santi also came courtesy... More

There seems to be a permanent party atmosphere at L'Osteria di Giovanni, helped along by very friendly and skilled service and of course very good food indeed. The food we ordered (lots of samplers both food and drink come unrequested) included smoked beef carpaccio, lamb with artichokes and suckling pig. All were top notch and we would happily recommend this... More

speechless in all senses. we had the antipasto, ravioli truffle, chicken breast and a bottle of red wine. i would say they put much effort in blending each palette in harmony. for instance, the grilled veg was sweet but the grilled potatoes were a bit salty, when combined together with the meat it was just perfect. the ravioli truffle was... What a find thanks to London chef Theo Randell. Yet another lovely restaurant we visited in Florence. Good food. We were served by a nice friendly waiter. Bill came with a glass or two of Grappa.

Wonderful meal on Sunday night. Started by sharing the goats cheese and aubergine salad, in which the slow roast tomatoes were fab. Then shared the pasta with porcini mushrooms and truffle - wonderful! Then we had the 'special' of the roast suckling pig, and the standard Ossobucco - both rich and delicious. No room for puddings, but were treated to... More

A hectic Saturday night, which seems quite usual! The waiters managed well with humour and there a number of (free) aperitifs / digestifs to fill the gaps. The food was traditional and good, though not as carefully prepared as elsewhere. An enjoyable evening!

We came here on recommendation from our hotel. The food was perfect and our waiter was great. My father. In law left the place singing and smiling as we made our way back to the hotel...but that could have been the grappa. Over all a great experience ... Authentic and wonderful.

If you look at my earlier reviews I gave this a 5 star a few years ago. and the food may be good, But we were excited to go back to only have our watier ignore us for 30min and acted rude when he did, I threw down a $20 euro grabbed my wine and left

First and foremost, we are truly sorry for your unhappy experience. Whatever the reason, we cannot but feel bad if things don't work out. In the same room as you was a boisterous bunch who grabbed too much of the waiter's attention, the waiter didn't handle the situation particularly well. He's a lovely person, and extremely polite, but obviously had... More
