At L’Osteria di Giovanni we not only maintain strict allegiance to traditional Tuscan dishes (including many antique recipes that are not commonly used these days), but we also experiment with new flavours and combinations, whilst remaining faithful to local and season produce. Popular new dishes include smoked duck breast on rocket salad and dressed in balsamic vinaigrette, tortelli stuffed with pear and pecorino, with leek and paprika sauce, pici with sausage and kale, and lamb slow-cooked with artichokes. We stronly believe that your restaurant experience should be unique and satisfying on every front. We look forward to welcoming you one day to L'Osteria di Giovanni.

We found Giovanni's by accident and chanced our luck at getting a table in what looked like a very busy restaurant. No problem, we were given a nice table for two by the window. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was just right to set us up for our trip. The staff were friendly and Giovanni himself gave each... More

We think you are right! Please book everybody (you can do that really easily via our website and we usually reply really quickly!). We are so pleased that it worked for you and that you enjoyed your experience. And the biscotti are so good even though we say it ourselves! Enjoy. More

While traveling to Florence again this time with a friend, we decided to try something other then the usual. L'osteria di Giovanni was a great choice. Although we made a last minute reservation, we were told we might have to wait a bit for the table. When we arrived, the wait was no more then maybe 15 mins. and we... More

We think that is certainly a good list to be on - so thank you for that. The fried bread dough with salt are called "coccoli" here in Florence - and are terribly tempting! We are pleased you enjoyed them. And all else we can say is, see you next time! More

Over on business and our host decided to select the menu choice for us. Great decision. Definitely had food I would not have selected myself and it was amazing.

We love that! It's sometimes difficult to step outside of your comfort zone unaided, but if someone else makes the choices for you, you will definitely try some new flavours. So glad that it worked out! More

We booked dinner at this restaurant before arriving in Italy and had no idea what to expect - we were not disappointed, as both the food (Italian) and service were good. We were two couples and did not speak any Italian, but this was not an issue as the staff either spoke English or could understand us. We would return

And we would love to see you back here again one day - both at L'Osteria di Giovanni, but also in our town. One can never have too much of Florence! More

Loved the whole evening. Very welcoming. We came early before it was filled up with large local families. Definitely a good move to get served first. Lots of interesting things to try. We went for several dishes not on the menu that the waiter recommended including the best suckling pig any of us had ever had. Perfect crackling and the... More

That's a firm favourite with many of our regulars that we simply can't persuade to try anything else. We are delighted that you loved it too, and thank you for taking the time to say so here. More

I dropped by in the morning to make a reservation; the waiter said they were booked but had a table in the cellar. He showed me the area downstairs, which was nothing but a cluttered storage room. I talked to the landlord of the apartment we were renting, who called and had no problem getting a reservation. We were greeted... More

Oh oh oh! We are so pleased you had a good meal and a great experience. Please understand that table juggling is an art, when we have so many bookings and walkins. Our cellar (a cluttered storage room is a bit mean! - it's real cellar, where we keep real wines, and really use it all the time!) is an... More

We discovered di Giovanni on our last visit to Florence - on the very last night. We have dreamt of returning for 18 months and our experience this week was even better that the first experience! It is fabulous to please someone first time around. But to have created such an image, and then have to sustain it second time around is sometimes terrifying! But we did it! We so much enjoyed having you here and are counting on a third visit now - you are definitely "regulars". More

I booked a reservation for this restaurant based on trip advisor reviews. It was our first night in Florence, but the restaurant was easy to find on via del Moro. The hosts were very welcoming. The house wine was only 15 euros a bottle. We had the antipasti to start which was huge, followed by raviletti with truffle sauce and... More

In our fantastic travel through Italy we planned also some dinner in "famous" restaurant in Florence. One day our teacher of our Italian Language school, Maria, informed us about a restaurant named "Giovanni" - saying only great words about it. Maria has been teaching Italian Language at Scuola Toscana since many years - so we decided to go all together... More

We think that Italian food can best be understood by those that speak Italian themselves! So thank you so much for choosing "Giovanni" and also for taking the time to learn our language. We find that to be an enormous compliment. More
