Description: At L’Osteria di Giovanni we not only maintain strict allegiance to traditional Tuscan dishes (including many antique recipes that are not commonly used these days), but we also experiment with new flavours and combinations, whilst remaining faithful to local and season produce. Popular new dishes include smoked duck breast on rocket salad and dressed in balsamic vinaigrette, tortelli stuffed with pear and pecorino, with leek and paprika sauce, pici with sausage and kale, and lamb slow-cooked with artichokes. We stronly believe that your restaurant experience should be unique and satisfying on every front. We look forward to welcoming you one day to L'Osteria di Giovanni.

We visited Giovanni based on a travel recommendation. We were not disappointed. The service was exceptional, with any new waiter serving our table they were instructed what we had ordered. There were unexpected glass of prosecco, breads, limoncello, grappa, biscotti. The food was delicious except the lobster pasta. I strongly recommend this restaurant to any one travelling to florence. Would not have found this gem of a restaurant had we not read about it on tripadvisor. Very busy on a monday night but complementary prosecco and savoury doughnuts eased the wait! Food and service were brilliant and some out of the ordinary dishes (squab etc) gave this restaurant edge over others. Cantuchi and vinsanto were a delightful way to... More

We visited L' Osteria di Giovanni based on Trip Advisor recommendation and we were not disappointed. The food and wine were great, the unexpected glass of prosecco, unusual breads and the glass of sweet wine with cantucci all " surprised and delighted ". The waiting staff were attentive and genuinely appeared to want us to enjoy our meal. Even from... More

Expectations generated by tripadvisor reviews sometimes scare the pants off us! So pleased that it worked for you, and we still managed a little suprise element. Thanks so much for commenting here. More

A real Tuscan tavern with a sizzling atmosphere and food to match. Best meal we had in Florence (and we had a few very good ones!). Some of the tables can be in close proximity. Only other thing to watch out for is not to overdo it on the yummy fried bread - certainly made it tough to finish dessert... More

High quality food and very friendly service. Had a delicious meal and great wine selection. Had the Seabass which was the fish of the day - it was delicious. The burratta was fresh and you could tell was good quality. My husband enjoyed his starter & lobster. Couldn't find a fault with anything in the meal. Definitely a hidden gem,... More

Based on the raving reviews on tripadvisor we decided to give this place a try and we are sad to report it was well below our expectations. It all began with placing us on a table with 6 people we did not know. It ruined our atmosphere but our mood dropped even more when the waiter was clearly agitated that... More

There can surely be nothing worse than waiting for your bill anxiously so that you can escape. How very sad that this happened to you at our restaurant. We are sorry it didn't work for you, and thank you for at least trying us out once. We won't answer the various points singly - some don't worry us, and some... More

On the advice of our private tour guide (who lives in the neighborhood), we tried L'Osteria di Giovanni and were very happy with the food, service and wine list. One of our last days in Florence (where we had many fine meals) and the food was better and more authentic than any we had tried. I had wild boar on... More

Good restaurant with nice atmosphere and kind staff. Even if we came without reservation, they still help find a place for us after 10 mins waiting. The T bone steak is famous and highly recommended, which is good but RARE. We also tried pasta with mushroom, tasty!

Yes, a really good Florentine steak is rare! Very. Buttery smooth and very rare. Glad you enjoyed it - and the pasta too! Thanks so much for taking the time to write here. More
