Following from a reccomendation in the Australian Gourmet Traveller I ate at Osteria De'benci whilst in Florence. The review was spot on any my family and I really enjoyed our meal. There's a great atmosphere here (thanks largely to the awesome staff) and the food was spot on. Our bistecca alla fiorentina was cooked to perfection and our contorni were... More

Stumbled on this perfect little family Italian osteria by accident and so happy we did! Food is rustic, simple Italian cuisine but cooked to perfection. The flavors were so similar to what my nonni used to make...authentic Tuscan cuisine and cooked with love. you can sit outsde or inside - both intimate and relaxing. not fussy - just simple and... There is about five or six spots in that area of the street. The place across the street is a tourist trap and all the others looked expensive for what was served. So we waited for a spot to open up and were glad we did. The pasta was fantastic and service/atmosphere were great.

Ate here during our few days in Florence. The usual choices, able to eat outside. Service was so so. Would eat here again if hungry and in the neighborhood, but nothing to recommend it or remember it by. If you are looking for good food go to Sostanza instead.

Our compliments to the chef for the best steak with Balsamic sauce and the succulently soft tripe. The friendly service completed our fine dinner.

Five of us had lunch here after wandering around from the Uffici. My tuna carpaccio came very plain with some thinly cut slices of fresh tuna (so far good) on some fairly tired rocket, complete with some yellowing leaves (definitely not good). I had the impression of a kitchen that didn't seem to care much. The toilet is in a... More

Excellent food. Went twice for lunch. Frequented by locals, so you know the cuisine is genuine, and the prices are fair. The only downside was the bathroom - creepy and smelly.

I went to Osteria dei Benci on the strength of multiple positive reviews from different sources. Usually, when people agree, that's a sign of real excellence. However, what I found instead corresponded to a different pattern that can be the cause of good reviews. Some restaurants, while offering food that, ultimately, is no better than good, have a combination of... More

My wife and I popped into this place randomly one night for dinner while in Florence. What a bad mistake. The appetizer, while somewhat decent, had an abysmally small portion. It was definitely not worth ?10. The pastas that we ordered were the worst we've ever had. Period. I could do better pasta at home myself. Both pastas that we... More
