We went there following our hotel advice, and we were not disappointed. The food was very well cooked and tasty, and despite the fact that we don't speak Italian and the staff doesn't spek english very well, they still manage to explain the dishes to us. Spotted this place at lunchtime- saw the fresh seafood and beef in the window and decided to pop back for dinner when a full stomach wouldn't write off the afternoon. At 1930 they said they were fully booked but to come back in an hour, did so and they had reserved a table for us. Staff- friendly and genuinely passionate... More

I was travelling with 72 students and 8 chaperons in Florence last month. At lunch time, we separated; the kids went in one direction, the adults in another. We only had an hour to eat and we stumbled into this place near the Accademia. No one could agree on what to have. We asked our waiter, who happened to be... More

Good food in this traditional Italian restaurant, with a menu of the day. We ate grilled aubergine, spaghetti with sardines and grilled squid. All were of the highest quality, fresh and very tasty. Remember that traditional restaurants in Italy are brightly lit, so you won't get an intimate atmosphere but you will get excellent service, fresh and good food. A... More

nice local restaurant. we walked by and was attracted by the friendly vibe. it's a family owned restaurant and all the staffs are extremely friendly. All dishes we tried are good from appetiser to main course to desserts. will definitely come back.

Grandmother behind the counter, grandfather doing the bills and the rest of the family serving food... You can't have a better place to get a real tasty Italian meal. Great food, large plates full and very friendly service. Don't let the bright lights fool you, this is the place where you want to taste Italy!

The food was delicious, Meats were cooked to perfection, lights were too bright and it felt like you were in a cafeteria, service was ok which may have been due to a language barrier. Food would be 5 stars, service and ambience 3 stars which is why I gave it average rating

It's our first evening in Florence on 19 Nov 2014, and we were wondering what was good for dinner, especially after days of pasta and cargo loading in Rome. Researched Tripadvisor and found this restaurant, about 15 mins walk away from our hotel. It's an excellent choice - we had risotto with artichoke, speghetti with clams, vegetable stew and vegetable... More

This was recommended by the staff at our small hotel and we saved it for our last meal in Florence. Truly a family place with grandma busy in the kitchen. Very cozy atmosphere and nice authentic dishes. Grandma even wished us a good evening on the way out. Great end to our visit.

Café Cafaggi was recommended by long-time Florence residents. It is close to San Lorenzo on via Guelfa, but somehow not overwhelmed with tourists. We had a table for ten, which was no problem. Most of us ordered separate dishes, also no problem. All of us were delighted with the food, the service and the friendly atmosphere. In fact the dishes... More
