Absolutely delicious meal in Florence

This is a family-run restaurant that was right next door to our apartment so we wandered in and had an absolutely delicious dinner. I ordered filet of sole for my entree and the waiter (who is the grandson of the family, I assume) was incredibly friendly and courteous, and also proceeded to debone... read more

The expression "our eyes were too big for our stomachs" applied to our last meal in Florence at Cafaggi. Because all the menu items were so enticing, we definitely ordered too much food for 4 people - but it was worth the gluttony! I would highly recommend the artichoke risotto, grilled squid and the bistecca florentine. In addition we had... More

We come from cattle country. Therefore never bothered to try this dish in previous trips to Florence. Big mistake! These are delicious. Reasonably price too; four people with drinks, antipasti, sides and two 1+ Kg steaks came out to what we would pay for similar at a chain restaurant back home. Service was great. Restaurant was comfortable versus the heatwave... More

We wandered past one evening when looking for somewhere to eat, in the window was an offer for 2 courses for €20, so we thought we would give it a try. I was so glad we did, we got honest homecooked food with good ingredients and a carafe of wine for €5 I had asparagus risotto to start and my... More

We stumbled into this restaurant very late on our first evening in Florence. Although the kitched had just closed they welcomed us in and fired up so we could have dinner with them. This is a family operated business and we were embraced by Noni to the grand children. The food was fresh and traditional, no hype just good food... More

Dinner at Ristorante Cafaggi was very good despite problems with the service (more later). Cafaggi is an attractive wood-paneled room with some antique artifacts and apparently staffed by family. The menu is distinctive by the amount and variety of seafood – all at very moderate prices. We split the seafood risotto as a starter, and it was excellent. It had... More

We reserved a special meal at Cafaggi based on reviews, and were very disappointed. Throughout the whole evening it felt as if out party of 8 was an encumbrance. It took an hour to get menus and drinks. No-one ever came to ask us if we wanted anything (more drinks). At three other restaurants I have been to in Florence... More

Wandered in without booking and were lucky to get a table as it filled up quickly. Staff were delightful and the family links became clear as everyone bustled away keeping a restaurant of happy diners content. It turned out to be the best meal we had in Florence and an interesting side light on their integrity was when we tried... More

I am so happy that I had a chance to have a dinner in that restaurant! Excellent food and service! Friendly stuff! It is a family business and that restaurant is run by a family of several generations. Salmon steak was simply melting in my mouth... Highly recommended!!!
