Great restaurant across the river from most of Florence’s main tourist attraction. The owners of the apartment we rented said they bring their out-of-town family members here when they visit. The restaurant sits in a small piazza just a few blocks across the river and feels neighborly and tucked away. For starters we had delicate pasta stuffed with cheese and... More

We ate here at the suggestion of the hotel where we stayed. Nice place and the food was very good. The service was great--we ate early(5:30) as we had a museum reservation at 7:00, and they served us at a nice pace to be out with no problem. Our waiter was friendly and spoke English well. The house wine was... More

Eating at 4 Leoni on the weekend is like hanging out with the cool kids--the ultra cool Italian kids (okay, more like thirty-something's). The area is hopping and you must have a reservation. We had a pear salad (ok), a ravioli with pear and asparagus (totally amazing) and a honking big bistecca Fiorentina. To say the meet was rare would... More

It was refreshingly not touristy. They don't even have an English menu, but were so nice in explaining in English what was on the menu. We had a variety of dishes, but the beef stew was a standout. The restaurant is located in a cute neighborhood, on the other side of the Ponte Vecchio from where we were staying. The... More

Great find - a recommendation from a local we rented our villa from. Real Tuscan food, great setting on a small piazza - sit outside. As off the beaten path from tourists as you can probably get in Florence in the summer. We loved this place. The night we ate here, we had a complete meal including dessert, but we... More

Every time we are in Florence, we try to eat at this wonderful ,Ottrarno, lovely and lively restaurant. This time, because were were to be 8 people, I made a reservation one month in advance in order to ensure we got a table. During our 6 day revent visit to Florence we ate there twice. The food is delicious, fresh and with... More

Situated in the middle of a vibrant and lively square in the Oltrarno quarter of Florence, this restaurant offers an inspired creative menu filled with both traditional Florentine food and new renditions as well. Make a reservation in advance, and ask for an outdoor seat. You'll be treated to some of the best people-watching Florence has to offer. There are... More

Coming out of the Pitti Palace into a downpour, my husband and I rushed into the closest place we could find (off the beaten track). Trattoria 4 leoni was a great place to spend a quiet few romantic hours. Although this was the most memorable meal I ate in the 5 weeks I spent in Italy, I do not remember... More

Booking is essential in this restaurant. Mainly because its used by Florentines, you can see why. The produce is local and really well cooked, with local dishes. Best taken in summer as you can sit in the quaint plaza which is buzzing at night. Average prices for really good food.

This restaurant is hidden just over the Ponte Vecchio bridge. Be sure to make a reservation. We first visited this restaurant in 2013. Everything on the menu is well above average with the exception of the Pear Pasta..........THIS IS NOT TO BE MISSED. Back in Florence this year (2014) we returned for the Pear Pasta and again it was melt... More
