I have eaten at many restaurants in Cortona and this certainly rates as one of the better ones. We were fortunate to get a table in the outdoor courtyard which has a lovely atmosphere. Alas the little wooden chairs were not the most comfortable. I did notice only 4 such chairs and the others looked more comfortable. There are other... More

During our week stay in Cortona (5 adults), this was the only restaurant we chose to eat at more than once. It's a lovely family run restaurant. From fresh-baked bread to homemade pasta to outstanding steaks, we enjoyed every visit. We ate inside once because it was raining, and then in the courtyard when the weather was nice.

We have had several meals and stayed at this lovely palazzo hotel and restaurant in the past three years. It never fails to impress with the excellent service and great food; much of which is down to Paola and her family who run the place. We had three visits to al Pozzo this year and the last was the best.... More

We visited this restaurant one evening in August with our three children. We sat in a small courtyard which was really lovely. The food and wine were both excellent. We had the fondue, which was very tasty, followed by pasta. The menu was varied and had plenty of choice for everyone. The service was excellent - friendly and helpful. All... More

Revisited this year, having eaten here a couple of times last year and again: it was great! Such warm and friendly people that run this restaurant, you always feel welcome! The food is wonderful, the lady of te house is the head chef and she knows how to cook! If you are looking for a lovely, quiet restaurant, with excellent... More

Spent a year in Cortona in 2012/13 and ate here many times, always wonderful. Had our daughter with us this month for a short visit and friends took us to lunch here the day we arrived. Paola had just made zucchini risotto and everyone tried it. After two weeks in Italy, we were once again back in Cortona for our... More

This family run restaurant is a short way down a passageway off the main pedestrian street in the hillside town of Cortona in Tuscany. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. On a recommendation six of us had a midday dinner here in a pleasant open courtyard.

The owner of the house we rent steered us to this place because the owners are friends. Of course, that means that we were treated especially nicely...just like everyone else who walks in. You can tell immediately that these people really love serving great food. The best thing I tasted during my recent Italy trip was here. Unfortunately, all I... More

It was almost innocently located off the main street in Cortona, and my buddy who is local to the region had nonchalantly drifted towards Pozzo Antico so unsuspectingly, that I had no expectations or knowledge of what was to come. We were seated in a small internal courtyard which seemed simple and idyllic, and accompanied with good and homely hospitality... More
