Having been a slow food member for some years I was very much looking forward to Pane e Vino. The venue is really authentic and the atmosphere was great. A very wide selection of wines is available and the menu was well put together with plenty of delicious options. I was say it was a 'treat' place to go as... More

Just returned from a week in Cortona, this was the first place we ate and it was one of the best meals we had all week . If your looking for authentic homemade Italian food, not "Americanized" tourist food, then this is your restaurant. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. We enjoyed it so much that when... More

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner and wine. We were made to feel welcome and the owner Arnaldo was very engaging and informative. His personal attention and service made this a highlight meal of our trip. We learned many things in our conversations with Arnaldo, and were able to therefore make an intelligent wine selection. This is the place to go... More

I have not dined here, but my wife and I stopped in one evening for a glass or two of wine. The service was excellent. The person behind the bar cut several pieces of the best pecorino cheese I've tasted and presented it to us on the house.

Every time when in the lovely town of Cortona, we visit Pane e Vino, located slightly hidden at one of the main squares, across from Teatro Signorelli. Like every time, we had a splendid diner yesterday, accompanied by some amazing wines. Arnaldo is a top host with a broad knowledge of wines (when interested, ask for the extended wine list)... More

If I could choose to eat one last meal before I died it would be at pane e vino. Nothing is better than sitting in the beautiful cortona piazza enjoying pane e vino's fantastic wine and simple but perfectly executed dishes. The bruscetta is top notch and the pasta dishes also hit the spot. It's run by a delightful couple... More

We have been several times . This has the finest wine list I have ever encountered ...marshalled by Arnaldo , a walking compendium of Italian wines and a brilliant and generous guide - in terms of both time and charm. He speaks good English . The food is splendid in enoteca mode ....not a whole restaurant menu but wonderful local... More

We recently stayed in Locanda Pane e Vino in Cortona. For two nights we had dinner in the Taverna Pane e Vino. Arnaldo, the owner, was very friendly with us. He is an expert in Italian wines. He recommended an excellent Syrah from Cortona. The tartara di chianina and the pici alle molliche were excellent. We recommend this place. We... More

We had a lovely evening at this taverna. The owner Arnoldo spent quite a bit of time with us doing a wine tasting through the evening. His style and approach made the tasting really interesting. The food really impressed too - the scamorza appetiser was a stand-out, as was the rabbit dish. The combination of doing a wine tasting along... More

We ate here for lunch when visiting Cortona for the day. We had read about the Taverna in our guide books and had liked the sound from the off. We were delighted with it when we got there for real. The ambience was lovely: really traditional and atmospheric. Our meat and cheese platter was excellent, with a good choice of... More
