This restaurant has a lovely interior. However, perhaps the reviews set our expectations too high for the food and overall experience. We had better meals with warmer welcomes elsewhere in Cortona.

We went to Bucaccia only one time for lunch during our stay in Cortona and honestly speaking it wasn't the best place we want to in Cortona. The atmosphere was marvelous and you can't argue on that, however the food, at least the one we had, was not the best. As our appetizer we ordered grilled porcini mushrooms, which were... More

After reading that La Bucaccia had the reputation of being the best in Cortona I made our reservation for the first night we would be in that area before we even left home. It was a chilly, windy and rainy evening and after all the climbing to get to Cortona we were so happy we didn't cancel our reservation. We... More

We went there on the basis of other good reviews, whilst travelling through the Tuscan hillside town. Having sat in the main square and had a couple of drinks soaking up the atmosphere we got to the restaurant at 7.30, by which time it was already pretty full. Really good, if short menu but all good. Starters of chicken livers... More

This has to be our favourite restaurant. We went there several times last year and in our short week this year we haven been twice, with the third reservation already made. A family-run restaurant, where the wife is the amazing chef and the husband (who makes cheeses and sausages himself) is such an entertaining and friendly man, always making the... More

On August 7, we had the most wonderful dining experience at La Bucaccia. We actually almost didn't have this incredible dinner at all, as we made a mistake on the reservation date, and they were fully booked on the date that we thought we had the reservation. No problem. They told us that if there was a cancellation, they would... More

Must say this is very good restaurant. Atmosphere is great, typical Italian. We tried salumi and cheese plate and then tartar and pasta with truffles. Tartar is not tradicional recipe, but it's also very good. Deserts was amazing.

I have read one report on this site that was entirely negative. I can only think he did not get in. You have to book to ensure a table and when you arrive Romano and his staff welcome you very professionally. The strip steak Cortona style is a must for meat eaters. My wife had ravioli which was excellent. The... More

There is nothing wrong with it. Its a nice place but there is nothing suberb to deserve five star. All the food is good, well prepared but there is no surprise, nothing that the others good tuscan restaurants also have.
