Vacation is the time to relax, to put things into perspective, to regain the composure that your normal workday life strips away. Our experience at Il Ciclope was so horrendous, it actually made me angry during my vacation. Il Ciclope is a blight on the serenity and charm of Taormina. This was not our first choice for dining. However, on... More

We went for lunch. The waitress could barley be bothered to speak English (I understand Italian but was traveling with 2 friends who don't). She tried to peddle an overpriced €30 tourist menu on us -- with small portions as she explained. We had water and shared 2 pizzas (Norma and sicilia). The concept of sharing and cutting the pizza... I've read terrible reviews of this place while waiting for my order and was a bit worried but fortunately the food and wine (and service) was great. It is true that February is very off-season and the cook has all the time in the world to put some love in the dishes he serves :) The place is very expensive... More

Food was not that great and we all ended up with food poisoning! There are plenty of other good restaurants in the area, just not this one!

During my two vacations in Taormina I visited a lot of reastaurants and with this one-I was more then suprised how bad it is. At first sight, it has the apperience of local family restaurant, cosy and not too fancy. But when the food arrived... it wad just more then disastrous-meat raw and not fresh, salad old and tasteless. I... More

Made the mistake of visiting here after having trouble finding another high ranking Trip advisor restaurant. It is not he main street but should be avoided. We order some basic pasta food the was not tasty. I had a green salad which was plentiful but lacking any finesse or flavour. The service was slow and no-one looked to be enjoying... More

The pasta I ordered was supposed to have a sause with aubergine, tomato, basil and mozzarella. I found 3 tiny pieces of aubergine, perhaps 6 leaves of basils, no fresh tomatoes, and a tomato sause that probably was from a can. I left more than half of the portion, the waitress noted I was unhappy but didn't care about that.... More

Out of pure necessity we fell into this trap. please don't make the same mistake. i am italian, i should have known better. ciclope is like a spider web, spun at a great location. truly not easy to pass by without falling into it. our first choice was closed and being half three it wasn't easy to find something open.... We stopped in here for lunch and are glad we did. The atmosphere was lovely, the host and the serving staff were very friendly. Very nice house wine and the risotto was cooked perfectly. Two musicians strolled by and came in under the awning. I would definitely return.

We'd seen some mixed reviews beforehand, but it attracted our attention as we strolled up the street looking for somewhere different. Almost full (mixture of tourists and locals) but we got an outside table close to the guitar player! The meal and drinks were fine, and we were contemplating desserts / coffee when a thunderstorm broke. Those at the very... More
