Oasis of calm in busy city centre

We visited in May 2015. After walking through the busy side streets in what we have started to call Taormina restaurante centrale and being pestered by dozens of waiters, we were relieved to walk into the quite oasis of A Zammara. The restaurant is open air, but is enclosed by a walled garden and a... read more

Walk past all the restaurants that have young sales reps trying to drag you in, go to bottom of this narrow street to find this fab restaurant. Yes the staff are older and a bit old fashioned but boy do they know how to serve you and what food it is, huge wine list a bit pricey but definitely worth... More

Excellent garden restaurant down from the main street. Calm and peaceful with excellent service and great attention to detail. Had the best caponata and pasta a la norma of our stay in Taormina. I would highly recommend it.

We went to 'A Zammara based on the recommendation of an American couple that we had met at another restaurant the previous night. We were very pleased with the result. The dining area is an enclosed courtyard which is quiet and isolated from the noise of the street. We shared an excellent Pasta alla Norma to start then had fresh... More

We choose this restaurant because it had good reviews and boy does it deserve them. I like to think of myself as something of a Risotto affecinado and the Lemon Risotto here was truly magnificent. It is usually only made for two but as it was early they made it just for me - stunning. We drank Sicilian wine which... More

Had a great meal. Fresh fish cooked very well. Lovely staff and great wine at a decent price. Happy we walked past the busier two spots trying to hustle us into them.

Had a great dinner here whilst in Taormina. Chose Sicilian dishes and they were excellent, accompanied by a good local wine. Three courses plus wine was €109 which wasn't bad. Service welcoming and friendly and advice on the wine was spot on. Impressive wine list to suit all budgets! Tables in the garden add to the experience. Would definitely go... More

Thanks, Trip Advisor members, for your reviews of A' Zammara. My wife and I were in Taormina for a wedding this week, an we were also celebrating our anniversary a few days early. I made a reservation at A' Zammara several weeks ago based on the reviews on this site. All the four and five ratings are true. We were... More

Only a few steps down one of the many alleyways in the centre of the town and you find an oasis of calm and good food: quietly efficient service, excellent local food (fresh fish). Not cheap, but you are paying for some calm amidst the touristy turmoil.

Located down s small alley pff Main drag and passed a few touristy restaurant we found this restaurant. We have a most enjoyable meal: local specialities, good sized portion, attentive service and sensible pricing. There is a cover charge but no service charge which is getting more common practice across Italy.
