Deserves its high praise and ratings

Osteria Nero D'Avola was highly recommended to us by our travel agent representative and by our hotel, and is well praised in all the guides - so this is where we dined for our anniversary. It lived up to its reputation. Fortunately we had been given good instructions as to how to find it because... read more

Not the cheapest meal in Sicily, by any standard, but well worth the visit. Selection of wine is great and the most amazing octopus dish I have ever eaten

Have you ever been to a restaurant asked for a particular dish and the owner/chef says come back tomorrow night, I will go catch the fish for you? This was my experience here. I asked for Al nero di sepia (the pasta with the black ink). Turi told me to come back tomorrow, he would either catch the cuttlefish or... More

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel; however our experience did not live up to expectations tonight. It was half an hour before anyone came to take our order, which was fairly modest, 45 minutes before we got our wine, and an hour before our starter came, a good 40 minutes later before our pasta dishes arrived ( now nearly... Having dinner in Osteria Nero D'avola was simply fantastic. Besides the delicious food and perfect service, the owner of the place, by the end of the night, played a wonderful piano music which, together with the haapiness of the meal, made us want to go back there soon !

We came across this inn, by chance, walking around the back streets. We knew this tranquil restaurant is really interested in quality ingredients and "slow food" when the chef showed us a basket of mushrooms and explained the ways he could prepare them. The bread came with three different varieties of local olive oil. The wine list contains a huge... More

Nero D'avola was such a fantastic restaurant located on a quaint little side street of Taormina. The food was amazing, especially the tuna carpaccio appetizer and swordfish stew, the wine was delicious (I suggest going for the grape of the restaurant's namesake) and the staff was gracious and incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. I highly recommend you make reservations and ask... More

Whenever I go to Italy I make it a point to visit Osteria's (as they seem to have the best food in town), and this restaurant proved me right again! A medium sized restaurant with a balcony over looking a small piazza (very romantic!). Service was very good and waiters were very polite. Most importantly the food was delicious. Mouth... More

We were told by our Etna tour guide that this is the best restaurant in town only to discover a very limited choice of fish (despite having started at 8pm) and rather uninspiring presentation of the dishes. In brief, you can dine better for less elsewhere in Taormina.

Ate there twice and had wonderful meals on each occasion. Met the owner, Turi, and he sent over some appetizers and lemonchello at dinners end. They go to great lengths to use only the best ingredients and care deeply about the quality of their food. Had the mushroom appetizer and pasta with clams which were equally outstanding. Don't miss this... More
