This is an amazing sandwich/takeaway shop in the Syracuse market. First there is the spectacle of watching the incredible sandwiches made. Then there is the experience of eating them. Great bread, marinated sundried tomatoes, olives, cheeses, meats. And bargain prices. A don't miss experience.

Carlo the sandwich master in the Ortygia fish market uses all ingredients made by his family. The bread, cheeses, salume, olive oil, greens, vegetables. His personality shines through in any language & his love of food is exemplified in every taste. What a great memory to have. Hands down, the best. Thanks Carlo

Walking from our hotel we found this place by complete coincidence and on a quiet day it had a ton of locals eating outside. We went in and found the extremely charming Carmelo who offered us a tasting of burrata with his little touch as if we were long lost friends. He made us the two best sandwiches we had... More

What can you say about a place, unassuming in its appearance, that overwhelms you with friendliness. Where you are offered a morning snack, just because you walked by- a perfect piece of bread, mozzarella di buffalo, prosciutto, a bit of crushed local olive, a bit of oil. Smiles everywhere. We had to return for lunch. The owner made me the... More

My wife and I found this place from trip advisor. It was incredible. The variety of meats, cheeses, toppings is quite a scene. We arrived around 1pm and were helped by one of the men who made us a sandwich and labeled it when completed: a Sicilian sandwich. It was awesome and tasted unique. Was worth the trip to Syracuse... What can I say? The best sandwich I have ever tasted. The making of which is a show in itself. And ridiculously cheap to boot. Amazing.

Went there for a sandwich after a city tour, just perfect. Everything is fresh and prepared as ordered. The mozzarella is homemade and tasted delicious.

This little deli was just 40 meters from my hotel, and was perfect for a rainy day stop. The derli opens into the daily street market. And the owner/artist stands outside to handle the throngs waiting for a sandwich. Well worth the wait--an incredible creation of beautiful produce, 3-4 different cheeses (both fresh and aged) hand sliced and grated over... More
