The proof is in...the seafood. You do not need a fancy restaurant to get top food: seafood, pasta, generous portions, genuine local recipes and...such a charmer of a manager. The local wines by the glass are good and reasonably priced. If you show inteerest, you will get "insider" recommendations, We enjoyed the food and the warmth of the atmosphere.

I had spagetti with Ricci, which is sea urchin. If you ever had sushi and like sea urchin, a very unique flavor. Excellent place and good price.

I ate here once because every time I walked past, I could see they were very crowded (unlike my favorite restaurant catty-corner from de Seby called Pizzeria Ristorante Caravaggio and also reviewed by me). And my food was good - I had a spaghetti dish (alla Norma?) that had a sauce of fresh tomatoes, anchovies, raisins and pine nuts. It... More

We went here on recommendation. My wife's steak was inedible, and my mixed roast fish included a very dry piece of fish that was also inedible. Our main courses took a long time to arrive, and the head waiter came across as arrogant and supercilious. Not a good experience.

Recommended by our host, it was a bit difficult to find. However it is a very good restaurant and very popular, mostly by tourists, but also by local people. We ate here twice and really enjoyed the food. Like another reviewer I chose the Cotoletta alla Catanese. I knew what Catania specialises in with regard to meat, and it was... More

Our hotel recommended this restaurant. We asked for a restaurant that locals went to. Most of the people in here were tourists. My husband & my friend enjoyed their meal, however I did not. I ordered the Cotoletta alla Cantanese. It was, basically, a very thin piece of, what tasted like cardboard. It was supposed to be beef fixed in... More

Went for lunch with my family. Had the ravioli with pistachio sauce, it was devine! Although seemed a bit understaffed, the waiter was very attentive. Also very child friendly, unlike other places, they kindly sorted a plate of pasta with tomato sauce for the kids. My best meal in Ortigia so far!

The food was very generously portioned and well cooked and presented. Unfortunately a thunderstorm put out the lights in the dining room and candles were a long time coming.

Went there twice for lunch. A small, straightforward restaurant doing straightforward food well. The fish dishes were better than the meat although the veal escalope (not a cutlet as described on the menu) was adequate. Service efficient and not effusive and the prices reasonable. A very safe choice.
