This is a truly wonderful place with a delightful owner who greets you with such warmth and civility, and then proceeds to explain the menu and the wines most helpfully. His attentions are not intrusive and the entire staff were most gracious and attentive. The wine recommendation for the Vivere Salisire 2011 was particularly fine. The wine seemed to just... More

I went to eat at Dionisio in Syracuse following a suggestion at the hotel where we stayed. I am always a bit sceptical about these recommendations as they are not always kosher. However, my scepsis turend out to be wrong as the dinner turned out to be one of the best I ever had in Sicily. The restaurant is in... More

We went to Dionisio following a recommendation from the owner of the B&B where we stayed. We had lunch on a sunday and we were warmly welcomed by Mr. Alfio, the owner, notwithstanding the fact we arrived somewhat late. Mr. Alfio is a very elegant and polite gentleman, one of a kind it is increasingly hard to come by. This... More

This small restaurant off one of the maze of little streets in Ortigia provided us with a delicious range of (mainly) local fish dishes and wines, carefully selected and discussed with the elderly English-speaking owner. Quiet and refined, yet relaxed environment. I'd go back any day.

We chose Dionisio on the recommendation of our hotelier. The restaurant owner was very welcoming and explained the menu in detail which was mainly fresh local produce cooked in the Sicilian style. Our food was beautifully served and delicious, with a good choice of wines, in a place of lovely ambience. We had a very enjoyable evening, and we would... More

Based on other reviews we expected much more. Pasta was average at best, and there was hardly any fish to go with it.I thought the service was pretentious. This restaurant would never survive in Manhattan. I am a bit of a foodie, and have traveled extensively in many parts of the world. In short avoid.

We had a very good lunch at very reasonable price. A good choice of Sicilian cooking well presented and served. We definitely recommend it

tucked away in a little alleyway, this small restaurant (book as its popular!) offers traditional sicilian fare with a twist. Great food brought to the table with a smile. Staff were informative and friendly. Reasonably priced. Just a great restaurant. Not your typical tourist restaurant.

We ate twice at Dioniso during our stay in Ortigia (Siracusa). It's down a small lane and worth searching out. You'll get a warm welcome from owner Alfio Torresi and from his delightful waiter; both speak excellent English, and Signor Torresi knows his stuff, as well as a thing or two about wines, photography and jazz. The food was very... More
