The millfoglie of aubergines was quickly heated in the microwave and with a taste of industrial cheese. Unfortunately it was not warm enough (not to say cold in the middle). The main plates (risotto with cuttlefish) were bland and tasteless. I heard the owners have changed and the food has definitely to be avoided. The waiters are very friendly though... More

Everything we had at Oinos was good, the sea bass, the salad, the pasta, the wine and the friendly service. But occasionally one is lucky enough to taste something truly exceptional. Oinos offers such an experience. Chef Salvo's caponata is without question the very best we had in our trip to Sicily. Caponata alla Siciliana is the signature appetizer of... More

Until very recently this restaurant had a reputation for delicate and inventive cooking, but it has definitely changed hands; the elegant room now features bouquets of dying flowers, and the headwaiter is flummoxed by serving three tables though the room has space for five times that number. We were promised bruschetta, which never arrived, and grilled vegetables with our swordfish,... More

We stumbled upon Oinos Restaurant which we thought was called 'Le Soste di Ulisse' on a fairly chilly Tuesday evening in late December and despite being some of the few customers that evening the chef pushed the boat out and treated us to a whole range of fantastic fresh fish dishes from the antipasti to the main fish dishes, all... We found this restaurant by pure chance during our stay in Ortigia. This is a family restaurant with really good food at reasonable prices.

We had a very late dinner here and were delighted with our welcome, quality of the authentic food, service and the cost. The seafood ravioli with scampi was the best past dish I have ever eaten.. living in Australia with our wonderful produce and Italian restaurants we are used to great Italian food. Trust me this food was really delicious... More

Really excellent service and full-on original Sicilian kitchen (cooked by mom and dad, obviously). Really felt welcome (despite looking like Joe Average tourists), and were helped beyond the call of duty on multiple points. Watch out ...(?) the full four-course lunch can be a bit much but oh boy is everything well executed and presented nicely... Only drawback might be... More

Even as weary tourists, we were treated with much respect and kind service. The food was prepared by mom and dad, and was excellent, classical Sicilian. Just a pitcher of wine: unexpectedly the same level. Being treated so nicely even when most probably speaking such hillbilly Italian: priceless. The full menu may be a bit much for some but oh!...
