Final meal of a lovely week in siracusa

We had been recommended another restaurant, but having passed by this one we were more attracted to it. Our table was outside and though the street is narrow we never felt crowded. Service was impeccable and fast. The food was excellent. We had swordfish, mine was grilled, my companion's poached. With that a mixed salad of generous proportion and a... More

Found the place by chance. Located in the heart of Ortyega. Few tables outside and much bigger inside. Extremely calm atmosphere. Menu offers some salad, warm dishes including pasta. We took an orange/onion salad, mixture of seafood, pasta with mint/pine nut/parsley and pasta with ricotta. Very good food, good service (limited in english though). 50cl house wine for 4 euros.... First, we ordered pasta with zucchini flowers but no flowers. Homemade Pasta with pork sauce arrived with tomato sauce and sausage and the pasta was not homemade. The service was very slow, rude and abrupt. There were no cash register transactions and money seemed to accumulate in the back pocket of the fellow in charge.

The waiters were nuts. The place was so average and uneventful. The description in the menu didn't match what we ordered. I ordered an exotic vegetable pasta dish, but what arrived was just a basic pesto sauce with a shrimp tentacle in it. My husband ordered sword fish, but got mussles instead, so he ordered a pasta dish, but we... More

Great food, very good value.Very welcoming. The best range of vegetable pastas we found, plus outstanding meat main courses. At the end of the meal we were offered free Moscato liqueur with candied ginger and sesame brittle

lured in by a bustling alleyway, we say at this tourist trap. Service was appalling, abrupt, bordering on rude. Food was just as bad. After waiting a long time, we decided to pay up and go before main course. This didn't seem to surprise the staff whatsoever. Says it all! Sicily is famed for good food, this restaurant's food and... My husband and I enjoyed a lunch and a dinner at Osteria during October 2014. This restaurant is tucked away in a small street, that even the GPS is challenged to find. We recommend that you make the effort to do so. On arrival at Siracusa, Osteria was recommended by our taxi driver and hotel receptionist. Unfortunately, we failed in... More
