My husband and I enjoyed a lunch and a dinner at Osteria during October 2014. This restaurant is tucked away in a small street, that even the GPS is challenged to find. We recommend that you make the effort to do so. On arrival at Siracusa, Osteria was recommended by our taxi driver and hotel receptionist. Unfortunately, we failed in... More

Can't believe some of the poor reviews on here. People must have been desperately unlucky or overly fussy. The pasta and broccoli starter rivalled any pasta dish I've ever had. And as for the almond and pistachio dessert cake - wow! Lamb and rabbit mains were great too and the whole lot, for two, was less than 40 euros with... More

Found this by chance when ambling round Ortigia. We had not intended having lunch as we had booked a restaurant for the evening, but the warm welcome from staff and pleasant seating outside, changed our minds. Husband was delighted to find rabbit on the menu and it proved to be delicious. A very pleasant experience and one to definitely re-visit... More

Osteria da Mariano is located on an out-of-the-way alleyway in in the middle of Ortigia, with outside seating on either side of the passage. Lots of local specialities on the menu, but the food was well above average and the wine list a bit more extensive. Prices moderate. The affable owner/manager Mariano visits every table to gauge guest reactions to... More

We had interesting pastas: tube pasta with béchamel sauce with almonds and chopped almonds on top and a pasta (bowties) with very little fish in a red sauce. The two pasta dishes were excellent but the next course of blue fish with lots of bones (not a good choice) was not so good. We had panna cotta for dessert, candied... More
