A pleasant place to eat with good meat options

We had two meals here with our adult children as we were looking for restaurants that had good meat options as well as fish and pasta. On the first night we arrived a little early but were shown to a table, provided some bread and water while the staff finished their meals. At 7.30 we were given... read more

Great ambience, simple food and excellent service. We had pasta with seafood and sausage plus salad. Very tasty, generous portions. Lots of fish on the menu but we just couldn't fit it in. Inexpensive.

We ate here twice. The first night was so-so probably because we were tired, chose the wrong things on the menu and had the house wine. Next night, we had great food and chose a great wine (definitely NOT the house wine). The restaurant was packed both nights. It is situated in a narrow street on quite a slope. The... More

Generous portions of well-seasoned food, including rabbit, lamb chops, and pastas with sauces a bit different than the usual Sicilian fare. Try the orange and onion salad if you have a strong stomach--the flavors are intense. We came back a second time and they gave us a plate of it for free (gratis). Each time they offered free biscotti and... More

'Sit inside, it's going to rain' .... 'It may not' ... We sat outside. It didn't rain. The menus were plonked on the table & removed moments later when the wine was plonked on the table. Quite literally, in seconds our lukewarm food arrived, fried (did they have time??) fish, spinach, Sicilian salad (an orange cut up in olive oil... More

Venu en saison calme, le service is without fault. Nicely placed outside, we had 'italian starters' which wasn't a good idea for the over-simplicity of it all. It got rapidly better: The other starter plate "hiblean mountains" is really delicious and not so often seen. Afterwards, some very tasty pasta sauce "verdure", a grilled swordfish and certainly the orange/onion/peperoni salad... More

I've rately seen queues like it. A nothing sort of night in October. Yet there was a queue of perhaps 20 waiting to enter when we left at about 9.30. Why? Good, proper Scilian food, reasonably priced in very pleasant surroundings. Nice bits and drink given free at the end. What's not to like? Highly recommended.

Warm and friendly place, seems family run. The owner was very welcoming. Food was great, decently priced and good value. Tried the octopus in tomato and the rabbit, and enjoyed both. Loved the antipasti and bruschetta.

We decided to visit this place as I had read a blog post about its pastas. OSteria specializes in Monte Iblei food. Place is nice and it was crowded by local families. We tried penne in monte ibei sauce - not as tasty as we hoped - and penne in mushroom&artichoke sauce, which was one of the best mushroom pastas... More
