The service was very good as was the food. We found the portion sizes to be quite large and two people could share. For the appetizer, I tried the Mixed Grill Fish that was outstanding as were the prawns. The fish is fresh, the bread crusty, and the salad....what can I say! We enjoyed our... read more

I was craving for a good fish couscous. I live in Morocco, where couscous is a must, but never managed to have a good one with fish. In fact this is know to be a Sicilian speciality, so I decided to go to a very nice restaurant to have it! The restaurant was suggested by friends living in Siracusa, so... More

Porta Marina is a moderately upscale restaurant with an emphasis on fish. We made a late reservation, and were put in the small dining room up half a flight of stairs, where the wines are stored. This dining room had only foreign customers and is certainly Siberia. Since we made our reservation so late, we can't really complain about where... More

I phoned but got no answer but went along anyway. I wish we hadn't. We were put in to a characterless side room and were forgotten as were the few other people there. This restaurant obviously has Michelin aspirations but the food does not match those inspirations. There is a note on the menu that more or less states that... More

This was recommended by our apartment owner. The restaurant is lovely, staff attentive but not as welcoming as other venues and the food excellent. The standard dishes of the region were given tiny tweaks and all the dishes I had, and sampled, were excellent. Recommended for food with friends.

We went for our wedding anniversary meal, looking for something a little more memorable. We were glad we were not put off by a few recent negative reviews. Our experience was entirely positive. It was quiet, a Sunday evening, low music, very attentive staff. We chose the 'light taster menu' at Euro 35 per head: three starters, a 'first' course,... More

A good choice of delicious food. The four of us had a first class meal served by attentive and friendly staff

It all looks great, but the staff is not interested in you. They don't try to give you a great experience. Look at the menu and the displayed fish, but don't expect the staff to be helpful in identifying what you might like or who you like it cooked. Don't expect them to ask if the food is good. Not... Food was average. Wine by glass was just terrible. Although the room was not full they seated us alone in another room. Felt in a tourist trap. Not genuine, there are dozens of better restaurants in siracusa, and cheapers.

Surprising, impressive stone-vaulted interior, very classy appearance. We could find a table for five without having booked in advance. Excellent food, very attentive service, a bit expensive, but generally a worthwhile experience.
