Great food in a quiet neighborhood of Ortigia

This was place listed in Lonely Planet Sicily, so the quiet, local vibe has changed a bit. But the location, at the end of Ortigia's island/peninsula, in a quiet square takes it out of the direct tourist line and keeps it at least half locals. People come for the great seafood--swordfish... read more

We had a really good dinner here. Fish was cooked well, although my swordfish was a little too well-done for me, but my hubby liked it. Had the gnocchi with clams which was really good. The highlight of the meal was the orange-based tiramisu which would be amazing in the heat of the summer!

Went here on a number of evenings. At the height of summer there was a need to pre book. The restaurant was always full with a mix of tourists and locals. Food was very good on each occasion. Would recommend

We sat outside in the sun on November 19th and had a perfect meal. First, a vast plate of delicious seafood antipasto, then a simple pasta alla Norma. Local wine came time and again. Nothing fancy but just a great Sicilian lunch.

This restaurant was just around the corner from our flat, so we went twice. Very nice food (gnocchi with pistachio sauce and some kind of giant saltimbocca were the highlights). We visited at the very end of October, yet this place, unlike many other places in the evening, was always packed! Despite being very popular the quality of the food... More

You get good food: tasty and not too much fuss. Service is considerate and very effcient, though I sometimes got the feeling it's a factory in which you have to leave as soon as you have finished your meal to let other people take your place. But that's probably due to the lovely tatse of the dishes...everybody wants to enjoy,... More

Really enjoyed our meal here, sitting outside, eating some good food and drinking local wine. The restaurant is right at the tip of the island, next to the castle, so a longer than usual walk (only to find it was closed on Wednesdays when we tried a repeat visit) but worth it. We didn't have a reservation but the staff... More

I loved this place! It's not fancy and most of the decor is found outside with the people around you and the night's activities. I had the gnocchi with pistachio sauce and it was worth the praise: even on a hot and humid night, it wasn't so much that I felt full. It was amazing. And although they don't have... More

A simple taverna with a few tables inside & the majority outside in a little square next to Castle Maniace at the tip of Ortygia. Slightly away from the busier, tourist route but worth making it this far. Had their local speciality, gnocchi in pistacchio sauce, followed by their giant orawns cooked with honey. Both dishes, simple but sublime. Didn't... More
