Il Baro was just down the street from our apartment so we thought we would give it a go without reading up on any reviews really and we enjoyed a lovely steak dinner and a pretty delicious chocakte cake dessert, the staff were friendly and very attentive and even enjoyed an impromptu English lesson from my girlfriend, all in all... I ate here with the whole family and we had an excellent meal. The starters were scrumptious, the pizza crusts delicious as well as everything else. Highly recommended!

If you're looking for that cliche Italian food fix, at an extremely high quality and at a really reasonable price, this is the place for you! All the food was spot on, and delicious. The staff were super friendly and just the right speed. Make sure you try the tortino, one of the best deserts my wife and I have... More

The first day we came here it was so overcrowded that we could not get a table. The next day we came back and they had a free table. The bruschetta was nice. The gnocchi with funghi creme was wonderful. My girlfriend had the eggplant dish which was good. For dessert I had the strawberry cheese cake and my girlfriend... More

We loved this place. From the Politeama area, it was just a short Bus 101 ride down Via della Liberta to get here. We received a warm welcome and excellent service from the staff, and the food was simply wonderful. We had the caponata di pesce spada, gnocchi with brie, grilled cuttlefish, and the tortino al cioccolato for dessert --... More

Recommended by our B&B. We were the only non-locals in the restuarant. We got there early, so no wait for a table. When we left, more than 25 people waiting - always a good sign. It has a very nice atmosphere, menu with English, and courteous servers. The food was very good, had fish and pizza as mains, octopus as... More

As other reviewers have commented, this place is a bit off the beaten path--for tourists anyway. Actually it is not difficult to find but it is over a kilometer from Piazza Politeama which I did not realize when I chose it. But on the plus side, this means Il Baro is not catering to tourists and, in fact, it seemed... More

We visited this restaurant twice whilst on holiday in Palermo. We were welcomed the first time, and treated like regulars on the second visit. There is a great atmosphere, mainly local people. Food and service were great, and at a reasonable price.
