Excellent Pizza and Warm Welcome!

During our four day visit to Palermo we stayed at an excellent B&B in the Libertà neighborhood and Francesco (the owner) recommended that we go to Il Baro for dinner, saying it was the best in the area. We came here at 10pm on a Friday night and it was packed. Very load and service was a little slow, but food was great. So much so that we came back in a Sunday night and it was a lot quieter and service was amazing. Very friendly and they would bend over backwards to help out. Food was even... More

The restaurant has a very good location and it is easy to find. Pizza's base, tomato sauce, mozzarella and ingredients are SuperB. You even can choose between 4 kind of different bases: kamut, 5 cereals, gluten free... A must go if you love pizza! ** You also can order special pizzas (very creative, good looking and great taste!)

The staff was energetic and helpful. It is a local restaurant. The beer and wine selection was great. The pasta was the best I'd tasted!

If you're reading all of those reviews saying:' We got a much better pizza elsewhere' well, you're totally wrong. I've tried all of the 'best' pizzerias in Palermo, and by far this is the best pizza I've ever eaten. You can even choose which flour to use to get particular pizza effects (such as soft border). The owner, a girl... More

This is a large family style pizza/pasta style restaurant, with all ages of locals there on a Saturday night. We were the only tourists, so if you want to get an authentic Sicilian dining experience, this is it. Food was average, we have had much better pizzas elsewhere. Vegetarian pasta dish my partner ordered was quite flavorsome, but not a... More
