When I asked for directions a local went out of his way to take us there. Great atmosphere, read the story of their history and involvement in slow food and participation in helping save other old establishments. Some of the food is great. other items just average or an acquired taste (had the spleen, it was ok, would I have... More

The Focacceria is a very nice place to have a quick, but tasty bite. Choose from traditional Sicilian food and sweets. Eat it there on one of the three floors of the restaurant or take it home.

The food is some of the best and most fun I've ever eaten. SPLEEN! Great atmosphere in the courtyard.

A Sicilian friend took me here since he loves the 'focaccia vecchia palermo'. It was incredibly good. Sweeter than I expected, absolutely full of flavour. Inside the Focacceria it was packed, but then it's a popular place, so what would you expect. Still, i'd recommend you arrive early to avoid crowd build up. If you want to take in some... More

Most guidebooks steer people to this place because of its past successes. We went for lunch and ordered from the counter, so weren't out too much money. We found the food to be average, found it difficult to order at the counter because what they call focaccia isn't what most people consider focaccia (be sure to point), and the service... More

A classic tourist trap - all foreigners and no Italians! Great venue - but truly awful food - plus waiters who were rude (and also had terrible body odour). Needs a new chef, new waiters and new management. My lunch here spoilt what was otherwise a very enjoyable trip to Palermo. Steer clear..........

We have just returned from an extremely disappointing dinner at this highly recommended restaurant(according to the guide books). Surly and rude waiter, no bottles of white wine ( only glasses available?), very average food and 50 euro's poorer, we will not be going back. The only good part of the evening was an impromptu performance of some exquisite dancing by... More

Here you can choose among several kind of typical sicilian fast food: e.g. "sfincione" (pizza with onion, tomato and anchovy) and "pane ca' meusa" (a sandwich with spiced fried veal spleen, dressed with "ricotta", a soft light cheese). Like all the places that propose street food, sometimes cleanliness is not at the best!

This place is sort of an institution in Palermo. Firstly I was reluctant to go there after reading some of the reviews on TA, but after completely impartial insider's tips (which were given by two lovely old ladies from the bus) I've changed my mind. If it was good enough for the locals, why wouldn't be good enough for me?... More
