Authentic and tasty

This place is worth searching out for, for its history, its traditional food, and its guts. One of the first businesses to stand up to mafia intimidation, it stood to lose a lot but the brother owners stuck to their principles. we liked it so much we have decided to return there again. We did lunch and we did the self service which meant queing. Not that we minded. Queing at the Antica Focacceria is a part of folklore. And it gave time to look at the things on offer. In the end we went for the usual tourist stuff -... More

Old elegance, authentic cuisine, good prices, and location (in a square facing the church of San Francesco with its exquisite facade) are the perfect formula for enjoying a Sicilian meal, or just a tasty snack sitting down. If it's the snack you want you will need to go to the counter and choose your items, in which case remember that... More

We had an excellent evening meal, which included an interesting set of typical Sicilian dishes. Informal and efficient ambiance.

The place is magical, it makes you feel fifty years back in the past, if not more. The food however is not exceptional, at least what I had. The panelle were a bit greasy. However, I would like to go back and try something else.

Part of the "Slow Food" movement. The wonderful aroma did not disappoint. Excellent local Italian food. In historic building, fast service, popular with large groups...we marveled at how quickly they served the mass influx of diners. I tried an arancini (rice ball) but could not bring myself to try spleen! Good flavor focaccia roll (not what I expected). Order at... More

We came upon this restaurant as we were wandering around the city and noticed that it was very busy. We looked inside and it was so cute and bustling with local people. There were so many Sicilian foods on display and priced very reasonably. There was a long line for people wanting to buy the roast beef and cream cheese... More

Wonderful place with typical sicilian food. Good value. And yes, they also speak english. On the ground floor is a kind of fast food, and on the first floor restaurant.

Went here with two Sicilian friends who recommended it. Amazing authentic street food, freshly made and a wide choice. We had two selection plates to try as much as possible, but also had a large pane con la milza, which I highly recommend! Chilled atmosphere and not too expensive.

Looked interesting from the outside and when inside it looked genuine and traditional but the food was horrible and expensive.
