The restaurant had a mix of Italian and some non Italian dishes but as I was in the mood for something spicy I had tandoori chicken with salad and paprika potatoes and it was lovely. Succulent chicken pieces with an authentic marinate - the owner worked in the UK for many years and picked up a few interesting recipes for... More

Sometimes coincidences lead to something great. My girlfriend and i were walking down Via Sant'Orsola, when we were passing the half-opened door of Le 5 Spezie. We just wanted to check out if the place would open up in the evening. It was only one of two options for us in catania, as one of us needs to follow a... More

Dark, u could barely see what u were ordering let alone what u were going ro eat. I ordered a chicken tandoori...I think they don't even know what a tandoori is imho. I find a lot to like about 5 Spezie. The owner is definitely highly passionate about his food and his restaurant and it shows. The menu is quite bespoke and it combines a deli feel with a normal restaurant. The high quality food is also gluten free, which is quite a challenge for Italian food but it came off quite... More

This place offers something different and lighter to all the other places in Catania and certainly not your average trattoria. This is a relaxed resautant wirh A mix of dishes from different parts of the world with an Italian influence. We spoke to one couple on the table next to us who had just come back the third time in... More

We tried "piatto misto" tonight. Has been the best food experience in downtown Catania. Definitely a must try!

Tried once while going around town. It's located in the citycenter near Piazza Teatro Massimo. We ate tandoori chicken and a huge plate of mixed appetizers. Everything was delicious and freshly made. The service was prompt and kind. The atmosphere could be improved but the food is worthy a try. Prices are a bit too high in my opinion but... More

An absolute gem ideal for both coeliac and non coeliac diners. The owner, Alessandro, brings real passion to his cooking and is more than willing to lead you through the menu in perfect English. The food is rigorously gluten free but you'd never know it if you tried the homemade bread or pizza. Great quality food at reasonable prices, presented... More

i had the best risotto ever! The food is excellent and inspired by the chef! Alex is the owner was so tender and he recommended us best food, best restaurants&cafes to go and he helped even how to go to the hotel we stayed. And do yourself a favour and leave some space for homemade ice cream!
