Good find!

The place is very well located and easy to find. We tried different dishes, mostly I would recommend frittura mista di pesce, and the swordfish was cooked nicely, so in a few words food was good and not pricey. Over all if you are in Catania and want to have seafood, il mercato del pesce offers... read more

We arrived and the restaurant was full so we queued for about 20 minutes. We ordered some local wine €16 and water which arrived quite quickly but then waited a further 25 mins for a menu which only arrived after I asked the waiter repeatedly. The whole thing then went steadily down hill from there with other tables with locals... More

The fishmaarket square has 4 restaurants, this being one of them. The interior is nice, a mixture of olde and modern. Entres look awesome - a unique plate created from raw (sometimes still moving) sea creatures. We skipped that, as we've had an entre earlier. the deep-fried mix fish plate was awesome, the mixed grill also good, but I'd go... More

As a Chinese, I can almost eat everything, but I did not finish the food here, due to the poor quality. I and my friend shared one squid ink spaghetti, which was OK. Then we ordered the grilled seafood (for three person) as the main dish. The grilled food had a pretty poor quality, in my opinion. They were grilled... More

Sorry but this was one of the worst fish meals we have had, which, along with very poor, more than slow, indifferent service made this not a very good experience. Worst was the over cooked fish which was nearly carbonised on the grill !! We did comment on this but do not think the waiter knew what to say !!! (Yes... More

We visited this restaurant because we wanted experience straight from the fish market. We love seafood and fish markets. My husband had spaghetti with clams which were delicious! I had antipasti caldi which weren't all that delicious. Potatoes which were mixed with parts of "octopus" were half cooked (raw inside), whole marinated "octopus" was very chewy. It wasn't ever true... More

Thanks to Trip Advisor for this great recommendation - a very atmospheric little restaurant in the heart of a very lively and noisy fish market in Catania. The seafood you eat is virtually wriggling when it gets to your plate - super fresh! Delicious barbequed calamares with peppers and garlic followed by 2 huge oysters. Prices were reasonable. Saw the... More

Eating here is a wonderful experience. This is a fish shop in Catania fish market in the morning and fish restuarant at lunch time. The chef does not speak any english and you can choose between either fried fish or raw fish - we went for the fried which was gorgeous and you can also choose any fish from the... More

Giovanni's place, call it a trattoria or osteria is located right in Catania's fish market meters away from Piazza Duomo in Catania. A tiny place with maybe 1/2 a dozen tables inside and a couple upstairs. When you go inside what you see is fish and nothing but fish. Giovanni's family has had a fish market for many years and... The fish market in Catania is a noisy attraction with very good products. At one of the market's corners we stumbled upon a little, simple looking restaurant. Much to our delight, the owner (one of three cooks behind the fish counter) prepared a fantastic dish of fresh, uncooked seafood and fish. Each item had its own dressing. The dish was... More
