Our hotel recommended this restaurant and we ordered some allegedly typical dishes like Pasta Norma, and Pasta with salmon and we could not eat the food, because it was too spicy. The waitress also gave us a chill, we were afraid to complain about the food. I pretty much think that the restaurant lives only on guests from different hotels.... More

We went to this trattoria on the recommendation of our hotel, whom we had asked for a restaurant which served genuine Sicilian food and which had vegetarian dishes. It fulfilled all our expectations. We sat at one of the tables outside (which they put out around 7.15-7.30 pm), had a mixed plate of antipasti, which was delicious, which I followed... More

I cannot see why all this fuss about this trattoria. Apart from the pasta alla norma, which I must admit is really delicious, nothing is up to edible standard. Meat was served as tough as a horseshoe, antipasto was boring. I wouldn't rate this restaurant 5 stars just for a signature dish. How many times am I expected to return... More

Very cosy ambiance, nice service and excellent pasta! We sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather, we had made a reservation but several people came without reservations so they had to wait around 30 minutes to be seated

We visited this restaurant as recommended by Sicilian local who runs the hotel. The pasta alla norma seemed to be everyone's favourite and was certainly worth a try. The pasta was made by Mama Rosanna and was egg-free (please read the comments on the corner of menu). The prices on the menu were very reasonable - it was quite possibly... More

Well worth the visit (and the wait). When we arrived at one pm the restaurant was not yet open, but a member of staff explained that the owner/cook has had to go to the fish market herself today as her supplier had let her down. But the wait was well worth it. Excellent pasta all Norma, and we shared a... More

We lived just round the corner. Spent the day at Taormina. The welcome was warm. Photos of family adorned the walls. We ordered swordfish and sardines and a pomodoro salad. It was amazing food. I went into the kitchen to thank Nona myself.

i visited this restaurant for lunch at sunday just after opening. so, i was the first customer. i ordered mixed apetizer plate, pork ribs and salad with red wine. wine is not good, there were too many olives (even for me, i love olives) in mixed appetizer plate. cheese is not bad, meat is very hard and tasteless. salad was... Just got back from Catania and ate 2 times at De Fiore. They served the best Pasta alla Norma if any other restaurant we tried. The homemade Zutoni was wonderful..the eggplant to perfection, and the service was just right. The other dish we had was a plate of grilled vegetables, by far one of the best..It will be on my... Rosanna, an affectionate elderly woman originally from rural Sicily, made the best meals I've had in Italy. When we came, she regaled us with stories and pictures of her trip to Bangladesh, where she went for one of her own immigrant workers' wedding. Everyone she comes in contact with, she seems to help in one way or another. Cooking for... More
