It took 30 minutes for our water to be delivered, 60 minutes to get some bread, and 90 minutes for our meal to be served. OK, the food was pretty good - I had the pasta Norma - but honestly, it was not THAT good. Apparently, there is one cook and one server, and that's how it is every night.... More

It could have been just a poor night, but we were absolutely depressed in this place and eventually just decided to get drunk on red wine, which was the highlight of the evening. Because of the Lonely Planet rec, the sloppily put together room was filled with tourists quietly poring over their guide books. It didn't feel like the kind... More

Could not get chef into the kitchen. Opened at 7 - one of the first tables seated and got an appetizer at 8. I had bragging rights because at that point, I was one of 10 tables that had anything other than wine and bread. When I attempted to pay the bill and go, the waiter went in and got... More

When you go here then make sure you read the reviews upfront. This will give you a realistic expectation of the setting and will help you enjoy your experience. The joint is run by two people. The mother in the kitchen and the son is both waiter and helping his mom. This results in people waiting for 10 minutes before... More

Lonely Planet really talks up this place, but does warn about the slow service, which aggravates many people on this site. Well, I wouldn't make a special trip from miles away - in fact I could live without having spent a day in Catania per se, not the most inspiring of Italian cities. However, we had a long wait for... This famous quote by Dante should be placed over the entrance of this restaurant. (I normally don't write negative reviews, but this one is necessary to balance the surprisingly numerous good ones.) My wife and I dealt with a waitress who could not be answer the most basic questions regarding the menu. Nor could she be bothered answering the phone... More

We recently tried this place ordering antipasta mista, pasta di norma and a grilled swordfish. Food was fresh, but I wouldn't call it a restaurant quality, rather a good, home cooking. Avoid house wine (we had white/bianco) as it was REALLY a home made wine. After tasting it, we left almost 1 liter untouched. The place is run but a... More

This is an absolute must for the food lover. Be aware that service might be slow, but this is due to the fact that everything you order will be freshly cooked. Your best bet is to ask about availability before you start with the menu card. No matter what you order, it will be home-style Sicilian and just delicious.

Great little restaurant! We ate here on the recommendation of our fabulous b&b hosts, who as locals love this restaurant too. The service was brilliant. The waiter was so pleasant and very helpful. The prices here are typical of an Italian/local tratorria, as is the menu: antipasti, primi, secondi etc. We shared the antipasti and it was just superb: the... More

This was quite-easily the best restaurant we discovered in Catania. The food service and satisfaction was a joy. I've only given three stars for the atmosphere as a) it WAS October, and b) we were sitting outside and the hassle we had to endure by guys n gals selling flowers was a bit much. Other than that, it was excellent.... More
