We lived just around the corner. Spent the whole day in Taormina and were tired. Found this place walking home from the bus. Did not feel like going home to shower and change because of the 5 flights of stairs I would have had to climb. On entry we found photos of the family adorned the walls. In my book... More

Whist in Catania we visited De Fiore twice. The first evening was as we had been told to expect, slow service but very good Sicilian food. The second visit was a very disappointing evening due there being an embarrassing and highly uncomfortable atmosphere in the restaurant because the cook and her staff were engaged in a loud and unstoppable argument.... The food on this restaurant is very well cooked and not that expensive. The only bad thing is the time you wait to eat whatever you choose from the menu. The pasta is fresh and delicious and the meat is very well seasoned. If you have time is a good sicilian choice.

Upon our friends' recommendation and tripadvisor reviews, we decided to have lunch at De Fiore. A warm welcome from the chef Rosanna, we were seated inside the cool, cosy restaurant. We were the only customers there, and Rosanna and an old lady were the only cooks. My boyfriend ordered the famous Pasta alla Norma, and I ordered the Pasta Zucco... More

This little side street trattoria was mentioned in our guidebook as a reasonably-priced, family-run place to eat. The cooking is done by the elderly matriarch, and on the night we went, there was just one waiter serving about 25 tables. This was causing problems for some customers, but we were not in a hurry, so we waited. We weren't disappointed... More

What happened here? Following a well known travel guide's recommendation, we ended up asking for pasta alla Norma at supposedly its best purveyor. Granted, it was modelled to look like mount Etna but it was only ok. Now, what made this a farcical experience was the waitress who asked other guests for change (to break the fifty the first guests... More

I had a mixed starter that was so overcooked that it felt like eating mashed potatoes. Pasta la Norma came literally 1 hour after I finished my starter and although the pasta tasted quite well it was definitely not worth it. Afraid of the further wait I moved to another place for a dessert. There was only one waiter for... More
