Recommended to us by a local for Sardinian specialities

This is one of those places that you almost do not want to share, a little gem. I asked our travel rep. who has always lived in Alghero for the best place to try Sardinian dishes & this is how we got here and returned for more. It is not in the old town but very close. The speciality is... read more

traditional sort of trattoria, nice ambience, very good food; we had the 20 euro menu - good value, with half a carafe of reasonable vino rosso. Excellent cheese platter; main course of lamb was tasty, though rather more bones than meat. Good service.

Lots of young friendly women working - Like all places here they like to get your full order at the beginning, I'm not sure what that is all about but it is consistent at each place we visited. We ordered an appitizer sampler of hot and cold - it was very good only one I wouldn't have again and that... More

Great resturant staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was lovely and they serve big portions. We each had a starter of bread stuffed with pork and vegetables, followed by a main course of spit roast pig with roast potatoes and vegetables both were excellent. I also had a glass of house wine which was very nice and my... More

Popular restaurant with an interesting range of local specialities. Nice food but nothing spectacular. Service was polite but we felt a little rushed. As soon as we laid down our cutlery on the main course they were asking if we would like desserts. Tables a little close to each other.

We started with the anti pasti and were really astonished by the great taste of the cold and warm dishes that were served. Also the head courses were tasty and really good. Together with a mezzo litre of house wine we had dinner for 20 euro each. Got the recommendation from a local, this place is absolutely worthwhile visiting during... More

Our late October visit to Alghero was meant to include a meal at La Saletta, unfortunately the restaurant was closed for an extended period and we were really sorry to have missed out.

Just eaten here. Three courses with wine and two glasses of Prosecco was 46 Euros for two of us. The food is traditional Sardinian so don't be put off by spicy horse and marinated donkey on the menu. The anti-pasta included excellent meats and cheese, the ravioli with ricotta and spinach superb and the lamb and peas with fennel a... More

The place is nice and quiet. The food is good and they have all sorts of mountain dishes from Sardinia. The service could be a little improved but overall it was a good experience. I'd certainly eat there again. Btw-you can have horse and donkey stakes here.

If I had seen the menu ahead of time, as Americans we just wouldn't have eaten here as trip, donkey and horse are just not usually part of what we eat! It was also a very heavy menu. Not bad; just not right for us.
