Welcoming,warm and wonderful

We were getting a bit desperate after 30 mins trawling the streets of old Bari to find a place for Sunday lunch and having been turned away by a pizzeria and not even being able to find the entrance to a posh looking fish restaurant. However, we fell upon Al Gambero which is low on aesthetics but... read more

We had a quick dinner before getting the ferry and wanted something light so we had peppered mussels, mozzarella (we wanted burrata but it was finished) and some white wine from the house. The service was fast, food was super tasty and the restaurant served us a plate of pasta with garlic and mussels and tomato which left us in... More

We had the best time at Hosteria Al Gambero! The staff greeted us warmly. The menu had a lot of choices, but when we asked the waiter for his recommendation, he put the menu away and took us to the back of the restaurant and showed us the fish, fresh on ice, and all sorts of small seafood dishes that... This is a local restaurant and the locals certainly got better treatment that we visitors. Opposite the port it is obviously a fish restaurant and my fish was OK but not as good as I have had elsewhere in Italy. My wife who is vegetarian ordered a suitable dish only to find flecks of fish in her meal. It was... More

My friend who lived in Bari recommended us it. The place looks very simple, and not attractive outside. But don't be afraid to enter! The seafood is very fresh, wonderful service and really nice prices. I recommend just to ask for degustation of the seafood - they will bring about 10 dishes on there choice!! Black spaghetti, fried artichokes, seafood... More

It was our first day in Bari and we took an afternoon walk along the coast. We went to this non-assuming restaurant and were pleasantly surprised with the freshness of the seafood -- squid, prawns, mussels and clams. An added treat was the super friendly host, Victor, who seemed to enjoy moving from table to table, making sure guests were... More

We found this place accidentaly, looking for some cafe or restaurant to have a lunch after 14:00 and we was very welcomed there. There are a lot of different seafood and fish dishes in the menu and menu itself are in 3 languages.Everything was very tasty and prices were surprisingly low. Unfortunately next day me and my mom felt ourselves... More

Osteria Il Gambero is located strategically next to Bari old city and it's port. There was ample seating in a non-descript setting. The service was attentive but a bit pushy toward their specials, but not too bad. The food was average. The anti-pesto of ceviche style and raw fish was superb. The primo, frutti DI mar e pasta, was average... More
