Description: An oratory was built in 1499 which was later converted into a church...
An oratory was built in 1499 which was later converted into a church, consecrated with the title of Santa Croce. In 1808 the church was suppressed, owned by the state and later sold of to privates. It became a hay barn, then a leather warehouse and finally a deposit of metal scrap. In 1982, the church of Santa Corce di Cittadella was converted into a restaurant, combining a mystical place of peace to good kitchen, with a brazier (Bracere) in the center of the room for cooking food in the regional tradition. To date, the venue has a style all its own which prizes the ancient premises and offers its customers dishes to suit all palates. The food and the good pizzas of Enrico will entertain You in this enchanting space.

Converted church that is a romantic setting for a meal for two

I had booked this restaurant for Saturday night as Verona tends to get very busy at weekends and tables can be hard to get without a prior booking. The setting is absolutely lovely - a converted church with a mezzanine level too. The food was delicious - I had a local favourite, Bean and pasta... read more

This restaurant is located in what used to be a church, dating back to the 1500s so visually it is very interesting and quirky. A mix of religious parephanalia and other artefacts both modern and old will give you something to look at and talk about before eating. The food is great. Our group had pizza, risotto, steak, fish and... More

Al Bracere is a fairly typical Verona pizzeria. Pros: interesting two-level interior in an attractive ex-Oratory on the edge of the centre; good pizza list, range of bottled beers and local wines; nice pizzas on a tasty crust that can be either traditional or Kamut; fair pricing Cons: even for a Saturday night service was incredibly slow and unresponsive; we... We spent a day in Verona to do some sightseeing and decided to ask locals (the local police!) for a recommendation for a pizzaria. They recommended Al Bracere, tucked away in a side street, not far from Piazza Bra. Their pizza menu is quite large and are happy to add or remove ingredients to your taste. Service was fine -... This restaurant is a hidden gem away from the main attractions in Verona. We had spent a very wet day at Lake Garda and after returning back to the hotel to shower and dry off, did not want to walk too far. This restaurant was very close to the hotel and we were very pleased we took a chance. The... More

We came here on the basis of the positive reviews. However, while not actually bad, we found the food disappointing. I had a salad and a pizza both of which were OK without being in any way special. My wife had a not very good pasta course followed by a reasonable seabass dish. Housewine quite drinkable. Service efficient without being... More

I'm sorry that u didn't appreciate our restaurant. We always try to improve ourselves and make lots to make our customers happy. Restaurants in the city centre are more expensive than us, but it always depends on what you eat and what you expect from a place. We hope to welcome you soon and make you prove that we can... More

Al Bracere is tucked into a quiet side street a few steps outside the old city walls. A former church makes the setting interesting; the menu choices are varied, and the wine list draws nicely from the surrounding regions. Staff were efficient and courteous at both our visits.

The waitress is unpolite, she arrived without saying goodmorning and she had bad manners. On the table there were ants, coming from pot plants. On the pizza there were frozen-vegetables, or pickles, and the mushrooms were still dired. The pizza was so heavy that I could'nt sleep at night. At the end I had to pay a large bill, so... More

Very friendly hardworking staff with a great atmosphere, and well designed décor in a converted barn. Like the tardis, small on the outside, large airy open interior. We ate at this restaurant for a full meal twice and then just for dessert on our last evening (Very grateful for allowing us to choose a dessert after a disastrous main course... More

We went to this restaurant because it was very close to our hotel, we were too tired to walk far. We had a very pleasant surprise on a sunday night. Service was alright and food was very good. For starters we ordered grilled vegetables and a caprese salad and for mains 2 macherronchini alla carbonara. We really enjoyed our meal.... More
