Good service, interesting menu with good veggie choices. Ambience is good and doesn't feel touristy at all. Easy to find but away from the crowds at the same time. Overall the food was good though I was expecting it maybe to be a bit better

We had the meat & cheese tasting platter (large) washed down with local wine and fine local craft beer. Excellent food & drink in a prime location opposite the duomo.

We found this place by mistake, but I am exceptionally happy that I did! The cafe is superbly decorated with some beautiful furniture, and has an 'arty' feel to it without being arrogant. The place is run by a couple (I assume) and the lady greeted us in flawless English to save my blushes (I butcher the Italian language) and... More

We have been to this cozy little place twice for lunch and both times left satisfied. The first time we came here in the summer, we sat in the quiet little patio, which was a perfect escape from the sun and heat. My husband had the horse stew over creamy polenta and I had the bigoli with horse. The meat... More

We booked a table for 2 at 7pm which is a lot earlier than the usual dining time for the locals. The owner had no problem with that. We were given an English menu with slate placemat and chalks to play with. It was fun. We ordered the small platter, local baked cheese with ham and local spaghetti with duck... More

Found this place by chance as we were checking out the church. A friend of mine is vegan and was more than satisfied with selection offered by the RETRObar. Great selection for vegans and vegetarians, BUT even for meat eaters the food is great. We had their pumpkin risotto and salads and they were delicious. The atmosphere is quiet and... More

It's nice when you find places like these by chance On our way to see the cathedral, we stumbled upon this pretty, little cafe (it's difficult to miss it actually, it's right next to the cathedral) We sat in the (only) table outside, as it was a sunny day, and had a cappuccino and hot chocolate. Although overall it wasn't... More

Quiet area. Retro decor. Feels good when you walk in. Very pleasant in the courtyard. We both had bigoli with duck ragu, glass of Amarone and flourless, milk and egg free pear and nut cake and finished off with an espresso with Sambucca. All were very good. Service was friendly. Would go back for more meals. Good value.

After a day of dodging throngs of tourists, we found the Retro Bistrot & Cafe to be a calm, quiet spot out of the heat. We dined on the charming patio next to pots of potted herbs and peppers. The Spaghetti with Horse Meat was divine and my friend had the best grilled polenta of the trip. Crisp on the... More
