Classy with expense

Classy and classic for its drink and historic place. Forcing you to pay €6 for music but still okay. I came here last year and bought some coffee and chocolate. This time I couldn't help myself spending on its signature tea box, teapot, and a tea cup set. I didn't get the best service probably... read more

...for the music. Sitting down will cost you 6 euros per person for the privilege of listening to the same music you can hear standing. Before ordering anything. BUT I had the best croissant ever. May be it was the location or may be it was the memories of doing the same as a child with my father. Who cares?... More

How could we miss Caffé Florian when we go tro San Marco ? Well, the service is stylish and you enjoy the Scenery in this exceptional location. Food and beverages are excellent, but the prices will jump very high as well !. The difference ? A music band will let you feel back to the 19th century ...

If you sit at Florian long enough (and be sure you have lots of money) you may well see everyone you ever met in your life, pass by. But it is a nice spot to watch the hustle and bustle of St Mark's Square

It was a pleasant relief to be able to sit and have some cool drinks in the shade and absorb the atmosphere of Piazza San Marco. The drinks were on the expensive side, but worth the experience.

We decided to have desert of Café Florian for the experience. Right in St Mark's Square, it has been in business for 300 years and hosted the famous and infamous. Be prepared to be charged per person for the pleasure of listening to the musicians (who you can just as easily hear when walking by) and exorbitant prices for desert... More

We were waiting to check into our room and we had a few hours to wait so we wandered down to saint Marco square. We wanted to be able to sit down and enjoy a cold drink. We stopped at Caffe Florian. There is a 6 euro service charge per person for the orchestra playing. We ordered a hot chocolate,... More

Came here for a few drinks (€19 a vodka btw). Asked the waiter for table for two. His reply No, sit in the shade it's too hot. All the tables in the shade were occupied so didn't have a choice. We are on holiday from Scotland so wanted the sun. At prices like that they should take you where you... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
