A Setting to Remember

After enjoying a stroll over the Rialto Bridge we were hungry and found this restaurant just around the corner right on the canal. A perfect spot for lunch. The inside restaurant is small but there is an extensive outdoor dining area. While we were there half the outside space was in the shade... read more

It's right beside the Rialto bridge. Ten chicceti cost 30 Euros. Beef ones and courgette flower ones aside, they're lazy and uninspiring.

Amazing location, as for the menu and the food: nothing to write home about, just normal, staff not very friendly sometime pushy maybe the language barrier.

The only thing going for this place is location. Service is ok but the food is pretty grim. Of course, why should they care....they will never worry about repeat business because it's a money machine that's placed in a great location. Which is a shame isn't it?

I agree with most that has been written about this restaurant, but I would still wholeheartedly recommend. It sits on the waterfront, close to the Rialto Bridge but also in front of a wooden platform where locals buy pizza's and beer from the surrounding restaurants and sit by the water. We watched teenagers being dropped off by their parents in... More

We had a couple of Aperol spritz at this cichetti place with a good view of the grand canal. Service was not fast, but we we were not in a hurry. That is key in Italy. Go there after soaking in San Polo and Santa Croce and you will be rewarded...

We had lunch at this popular restaurant near the Rialto Bridge overlooking the Grand Canal. The pasta dishes were well prepared but as the service was so bad we just gave up trying to order anything else. The couple at the next table complained about the quality of their food - they were offered a replacement which they only half... More

Great views. We sat having a drink overlooking the Grand canal. Service was very slow to say how quiet it was. Didn't eat here

Bought the highly recommended Lonely Planet pocket guide to Venice, which dedicates a lyrical paragraph to this restaurant, so we went. Let me save you all the disappointment in three words. It is rubbish. Four words: it is expensive rubbish. The wine is 2x West End London, the "view" is ok, but frankly Venice is generally so pretty that this... More

I give this place a average rating just because of the location. It has an amazing view of the canal and the location is hopping. The drinks were fair at best and very expensive.

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
