Description: The restaurant " Do Forni " was founded in 1973 and is managing with passion by Mr.Eligio Paties. " Do Forni " is distributed in two adjacent rooms: a rustic elegant room setting with the imagery of the ancient Venetian restaurant and the other one called Orient Express, whose luxurious furnishings reproduce accurately the setting and the soul of the famous wagon train that connects Venice to Istanbul and Paris. The restaurant features traditional Venetian cuisine, mainly seafood, which offers fish and shellfish of the Adriatic according to recipes handed down by the Venice of the past centuries and embellished with seasonal vegetables and delicate sauces; but also the restaurant is known for a refined interpretation of the Venetian and Italian cooking that mixes the use of meats and local vegetables with the influence of international gastronomy. Very large and qualified is also the restaurant's wine cellar, that offers the best labels from all the Italian regions, the most prestigious French wines and champagnes as well as a wide selection of international products.

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel concierge and was absolutely horrid! We were led to the absolute rear of this very large trattoria to a table for two amidst large parties of eight or more. Our waiter refused to suggest specialty dishes, was indifferent, brought us the wrong dish...a 66 euro risotto that was supposed to include seafood, but... More

While in Venice shopping in St. Mark's Square, I asked a beautiful shop owner for a lunch spot recommendation frequented by locals. She asked if price was an issue, and I said no. She then offered two proposals, one pricey and one not. We chose Do Forni, and are glad we did so. I'm glad we did not read some... More

Very close to San Marco, do Forni has high quality service, fast and genuine food. You can ask off menu venetial specialties such as risotto ai bruscandoli (local herb) or soft shell crab moaca. Order Antipasto del doge for mixed seafood, risotto (also with ink) and prosecco or gavi. Dont go for meat, but the veal cutlets are great for... More

This restaurant was recommend by out hotel. Instead of going to a small restaurant, which we requested, we were lead thru rooms and rooms, most with tourists. Food was disappointing for the cost. Service was reasonable good, considering you are on "Italian time."

One might be excused for believing that a restaurant that offers a wine list with a hundred or so wine selections ranging in price from EUR 10,900 (yes, ten thousand Euros!) to EUR 100 and about 20 selections from EUR 29 - EUR 100 including half bottles) might offer comparable and highly sought after food selections from a sophisticated and... We wanted to go were the locals went because frankly we weren't thrilled with the food in Venice. We were recommended by our hotel. We had an amazing meal, chatted up with some people at the next table, and there was a family who brought their dog. I love that!! Loved that it was off the beat, although we had... More

The restaurant was recommended by the concierge at the Westin Europa Regina so I was expecting better. We were there about 8:00 or 8:30 and it was almost empty. The service was neither good nor bad and that sums up the food. We were tired after a long day coming from Florence and perhaps that worked against the restaurant. But... More

We were referred by the hotel and were very disappointed. The decor was out of the Godfather and in much needed repair. 140 euros for lunch for risotto and two salads and bottle of wine. The seafood risotto was pretty much absent of seafood. A waste of time and money. Go elsewhere for better food, ambiance, decor and cost.

My husband and I really liked this charming, Venetian restaurant so much, we ate here twice. It's not far from Piazza San Marco (a short meandre, down Calle do Rizzi, east of PSM) and the restaurant has three different themed rooms (an "Orient Express-styled" front dining room, a Garden Room, and a rustic old farm-house styled room). On our first... More
