Description: The restaurant " Do Forni " was founded in 1973 and is managing with passion by Mr.Eligio Paties. " Do Forni " is distributed in two adjacent rooms: a rustic elegant room setting with the imagery of the ancient Venetian restaurant and the other one called Orient Express, whose luxurious furnishings reproduce accurately the setting and the soul of the famous wagon train that connects Venice to Istanbul and Paris. The restaurant features traditional Venetian cuisine, mainly seafood, which offers fish and shellfish of the Adriatic according to recipes handed down by the Venice of the past centuries and embellished with seasonal vegetables and delicate sauces; but also the restaurant is known for a refined interpretation of the Venetian and Italian cooking that mixes the use of meats and local vegetables with the influence of international gastronomy. Very large and qualified is also the restaurant's wine cellar, that offers the best labels from all the Italian regions, the most prestigious French wines and champagnes as well as a wide selection of international products.

We went to this restaurant for a "candlelight dinner" purchased through our tour. Thedinnerinclude a bottle of wine of our choice, which really meant select redor white and the restaurant picks the wine, an appetizer , main course, and dessert. While the candle was lit, so was every light in the restaurant, so there was no romantic mood created at... More

Recommended by Paola Ceriello, this year visits produced a special surprise. I merely asked about summer black truffles but Pasquale and Sebastiano brought out the tartufo biano and once the aroma hit the room, everyone at the table was on board. Home made Elisio's tagliolini (Elisio is the owner) was the obvious Primi Piatti for the group followed by main... More

We went to this restaurant based on a recommendation from a destination talk given by our cruiseline. We were greeted graciously on arrival and given a complimentary drink while we waited for a couple we were meeting. After their arrival we were taken to a very crowded dining room. Our waiter spoke English and gave us and English menu. Service... More

If anyone recommends this restaurant to you, do yourself a favor and don't waste your time or money. This was our worst experience we had in Italy. The meal was horrible. We ordered a seafood medley what we got for 80 euros was 4 small strips of low grade fish and 1 shrimp. It was a disgrace! The bread they... More

12 days on the open sea left us hungry (OK, it was not open sea but a Princess Cruise). This was one of the recommended places to eat. We were not disappointed. The bolognese I had was the best, ever. I have tried to make this with the 4 hour simmer, and could not get close to the complex flavours... More

Well we have been away for 35 days and yes we crave certain foods, but every now and then you come a cross a restaurant that serves simple non complex food, the way it should be with a taste that makes each part of the meal the king, in our case the lamb and veal shank, with roasted potato mmmmmm.... Elegant, traditional, high quality produce and excellent staff. Exceptional cellar, the choice is overwhelming. It's certainly pricey, but worth every penny.

My sister and I happened upon this place after just arriving in Venice. We were very hungry - mistake number one. We liked the look of the restaurant - it was off the beaten track and well decorated - but once inside we weren't so comfortable. Bar one waiter the staff were cold to the point of arrogance - it... Dear Guest, thank you for your review. We have to point out that cover charge in our restaurant (as almost all italian restaurants) includes bread and all the table forniture. Cover and service charge are clearly written on the menu. We thank you that you value with three stars our food that is important for us. We are sorry if... More

Appearances are deceiving. Lovely ambience, but food was a huge disappointment with a huge bill. Expectations were reasonably high considering this place offers a wine worth €6,800. Could go on but the final point is, just don't go here.

Dear client, it's a shame that you didn't specify what was wrong with our food; we'd like to have reviews that help us for improving our restaurant. About costs we can only say that are all written on the menu, so is a free choice of our guests to decide for staying and enjoying our cousine or not. Best regards... More

Avoid this restaurant at all costs. Do not let your hotel concierge recommend it. If they do, it's because this restaurant is giving them a kick back. We went for my birthday and the food was okay, nothing great to speak of. But then because the concierge at our hotel (Londra Palace) had told them it was my birthday, they... More
