Description: The restaurant " Do Forni " was founded in 1973 and is managing with passion by Mr.Eligio Paties. " Do Forni " is distributed in two adjacent rooms: a rustic elegant room setting with the imagery of the ancient Venetian restaurant and the other one called Orient Express, whose luxurious furnishings reproduce accurately the setting and the soul of the famous wagon train that connects Venice to Istanbul and Paris. The restaurant features traditional Venetian cuisine, mainly seafood, which offers fish and shellfish of the Adriatic according to recipes handed down by the Venice of the past centuries and embellished with seasonal vegetables and delicate sauces; but also the restaurant is known for a refined interpretation of the Venetian and Italian cooking that mixes the use of meats and local vegetables with the influence of international gastronomy. Very large and qualified is also the restaurant's wine cellar, that offers the best labels from all the Italian regions, the most prestigious French wines and champagnes as well as a wide selection of international products.

The service was good and the food was nice but for the price we paid I would expect something that was wow and this was not it

This restaurant is tucked away on a small street near Piazza San Marco. It was recommended by our hotel for a late dinner after a concert. Most dishes are prepared or finished tableside. The house made pasta and fish are particularly good. A bit pricy, but not unreasonable for the quality and service. I do not understand the review by... More

This was a lovely, atmospheric restaurant. Excellent food but very pricey. Good sized portions and real quality. Wonderfully fresh fish, indeed the boatmen were replenishing the display and delivering as we dined. The staff were pleasant, helpful and happy to chat and go through the more unusual fish varieties available. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience but on reflection, it was a... More

Do yourself a favor and go to any pizzeria in the neighborhood - it will be better. There are no words to describe the slop they served us at about 150 Euro's per head. Bacalau mixed with mayonnaise as heavy as a rock, sickly looking shrimps 'from the lagoon' (as if that is a recommendation), risotto not worthy of the... More

Everything is great here. Fish, pasta, wine, dessert. There are many rooms each wit their own décor, but the same food and service. Check out the fresh fish and seafood display. You may see your entrée waiting for you. During this trip, at tables next to us were ex-pats from Texas, locals and a small Japanese tour group. Who can... More

We had two pasta dishes, a desert and a couple of glasses of house wine which resulted in a €72 bill. Unfortunately we came to realise that this was not uncommon in Venice to have average food with a high price. Also don't come to this restaurant if you're claustrophobic the tables are tightly packed and you may need to... More

Food was great. Team service to the tables, attentiveness to details, food prepared to highest standard, nice choices on the menu even for vegeterians, they accomodated us and gave us a cake on the house to salute the new husband and wife! Disliked, crowded and noise levels at time were hard to manage and hear all at the table at... More

Had a large group dinner here. Excellent fish soup, and tender veal, good pasta, but the combinations of food seemed uninspired. Seating is very comfortable and people are not jammed together as often happens with groups. Yes, it's expensive, but so is every other restaurant.

Recommended by several local business owners in Venice we decided to have dinner at Do Forni. A short walk from San Marco down a narrow passage to the store fronts of the restauant. Entering only through the empty bar and waiting for a body to show up and attend to the guest. We saw movement down a long hall and... More

We were very disappointed by this restaurant! Our hotel made our reservation for us. We arrived early. We were whisked into their back room. Dark, dingy, uninteresting with uncomfortable seats. Waiters changed with each order. Meal came staggered and was mediocre. They padded the bill with extra drink. When we called them on it, after paying the bill, they threw... More
