Following a recommendation from friends who had visited Venice myself my wife and 4 friends booked this restaurant for an evening meal. A fine starter [scallops] was followed by a paltry portion of John Dory [overcooked] and all far too expensive for the quantity and quality. Sorry. ps -noisy

This is a tiny restaurant with a quite limited menu - but what quality! The food was clearly freshly prepared, and was delicious. It offers Venetian food, and as you would expect fish dishes are its speciality (although there were meat dishes). You MUST call in advance to make a reservation - it is very popular, and whilst we were... More

I know that given it is a Osteria it has a limited menu, but as I don't eat fish, I had nothing to choose from. 1 starter and one main - the rest was fish. It did taste good though, but at that price I did expect more. Remember to book ahead if you want to be sure to get... More

Very small restau, service is good, food is great! To my filling the area is not for walking late at night, but during the day and early evening is absolutely fine. close to Zattere stop.

Had lunch here today. Arrived at 12 as they opened. Place is small, only seats around 16 people. They had a big reservation at 1.30 so we had to be out by 1pm. Highly recommend booking in advance for lunch and dinner. Good points: •Warm cosy and homely atmosphere •Food was delicious, really tasty (I had prawn pasta) Bad points:... More

We arrived in Venice last night, after reading many reviews, this was the first place we ate, it was fantastic. First, I recommend you call ahead and make a reservation, even same day for lunch, as we did. They use fresh ingredients bought daily. Service was friendly, very accommodating, willing to meet special requests. Will come back.

We ate here twice on our trip to Venice. On Monday 23rd Feb the waiter was excellent - could see we were interested in trying the local cuisine and gave some great advice. Incredible food, well worth the money. This place is a locals favourite, I doubt you'll find better for the money in Venice. Be sure to book in... More

Maybe we had too high expectation before visiting this restaurant, so we got a little bit disappointed. We had three courses and a bottle of wine. Firstly, there were not many selections on the menu. My husband and I especially chose different dishes so that we can try different flavors. I got seafood mix for appertizer. Tell the truth, those... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
