My husband & I stumbled across this little place today & were intrigued by the €12 lunch specials they offered. There were many choices which included a meal, salad or chips, wine beer or water & a coffee. I had the calamari fritti which was served with grilled polenta & a salad it was delicious. My husband had the house... More

This is not fanciful but it delivers creditable meal at fair prices. I was quite amazed that there were 3 servers yet they kept everything under control. We had a antipasto of occupus capaacio and fried calamari. Their spagetti cooked alio olio style with seafood or tomatoes were good change from the saucy hand made pici in Tuscany. A bottle... More

Strange meal here, seemed promising with the starters then our mains were quite terrible, my main was swimming in oil with random chopped iceberg lettuce on the side and my girlfriends seafood was over cooked and inedible. We left halfway the meal, service was okay, lacking in atmosphere.

Everybody travelling a bit should know that having a good meal in Venice starts to be a problem. Prices are high, even higher than 5 years ago. Crisis doesn't affect food consumptions in Venice. So basically you have 2 options: be lucky or pass full afternoon on internet at the search of good places to eat at. It's actually a... More

This is a pleasant room with good service. A mostly-fish menu, but heck, we're in the middle of the ocean here so why not? I had fried fish with polenta, good fish and so THAT's what good polenta is like. My Birra grande turned out to be 660 ml, burp, but I'm not complaining. Herself thinks she had spaghetti con... We were recommended this restaurant by our hotel. (Tip: Get reservations ahead of time!) It was classic Venice. The warm bread was phenomenal, and I loved the sweet wine while my husband enjoyed the house red. Sadly, both of our meals were just okay, but it was still a wonderful experience.

This was probably one of the best meals we had while in Italy. We just happened upon this place, lucky for us. The thing that drew us into the restaurant were the three course menu options. I had the veal scallopini with potatoes which also came with wine and coffee. Excellent! My husband had lasagna and potatoes with wine and... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
