Description: La Caravella restaurant in Venice can be discovered immediately behind the newly-restored La Fenice theatre, just a few meters from Piazza San Marco. Stepping inside, you will feel as if you have entered an antique sailing ship, with dark wood paneling, capstans and ropes and leaded windows. In summer,La Caravella moves into a flower-filled courtyard complete with original wells, or the lighter courtyard dining room with typical Venetian ambience. The menu is typically Venetian too, with dishes like classic saor, marinated sardines with onions, pine kernels and raisins, fish soup, or oven roast turbot with potatoes and olives. In addition, the chef uses fresh seasonal ingredients to create trendier fare. The excellent wine list features both historical wine producers and smaller boutique vintners. Planning a party? La Caravella welcomes wedding receptions, private dinners, banquets, corporate entertaining, even coffee breaks. The garden seats up to 65 and one of the dining rooms up to 75.

Great service, Great atmosphere and above all GREAT food! Cheap it isn't but worth every euro celebrating my better half's birthday with friends. We all chose something different on all courses and everyone, without exception, was delicious. Lovely breads and chef's "surprises" with fantastic wine made this a meal (and birthday) to remember!

We went here on our last night in Venice. The seafood pasta was delicious! The portions weren't too big which I was happy about as it meant we could also have dessert. We had the amaretto soufflé and it was amazing. The waiters warmed up as the night went on and two in particular were very lovely. It wasn't a... More

Faultless food and probably the best Italian meal that I've ever had (in Italy or elsewhere!). Staff were excellent and friendly (except when they were being rude to some Chinese customers on a nearby table). Highly recommend.

A very special place to dine! Exceptional food, particularly Venetian seafood, professional, friendly service. Trust their suggestions for local wines! The restaurant is located close to Piazza San Marco towards the Accademia. So Bar Caravellino is also a perfect spot to stop for an afternoon aperitivo. For only cocktails or dinner, La Caravella does not disappoint. Thanks to all at... More

The food was exceptional (definitely try seafood as it's their speciality!), the desserts were divine and the whole ambience and decoration was great. The restaurant is decorated like the inside of a ship so what a better way to enjoy your seafood!

Over Christmas and New Year we have had many meals – snacks and drinks, lunches and dinners – in this our favourite Venetian restaurant. The New Year's Eve dinner was a sensational feast: eight courses (with wine) each expertly chosen to excite and delight the palette, each the perfect size to please but not overwhelm, each beautifully presented and the... I dined at Caravella with my family on my last night in Venice. This was a restaurant I noticed from the street as it was near our hotel. As many other reviewers have noted, the food, service, and ambience were all exceptional. Very impressive wine list, and the prices were fairly reasonable. The food portions were not too big, allowing... More

We spent our last night in Venice celebrating my in-laws 50th Wedding Anniversary with Vincenzo and his staff and we left wishing we had spent every night there!! The location and atmosphere were perfect and the food was the best we had on our trip. I would highly recommend that you let them show you how 51 years of experience... More

La Caravella does not fit into the basic travel budget, but if you're up for a splurge go for it. Located on the fashionable shopping street XXII Marzo, there is a beautiful outdoor courtyard. The branzino is the best. I think it's about 40 euros so you decide.

I love this place. My husband and I stumbed upon it as we were walking back to our hotel after dinner. We sat in the cozy bar area and had wine and canapes. We were frlendly with the staff and it was the perfect nightcap. The next night all we could think about was getting back here for our final... More
