Absolutely delightful restaurant and beautifully presented food. From the delightful amuse bouche - to the stunning staters to the wide range of excellently cooked main courses. This restaurant excels. Signor Walter was our waiter/maitre de and he provided us an unforgettable evening. Thank you.

food was absolutely delicious! we only had one course each but that was more than enough as there was endless bread selections and dipping oils, taster of a soup and a selection of chocolate treats at the end (all complimentary!). Food was very tasty we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. There was a wide selection suitable for everyone - meat,... More

We were looking for somewhere special to eat and Bistro de Venise certainly was! Marvellous service and beautifully presented dishes. We chose from the tasting menu and received some delightful complimentary courses in between. Unusual combinations of flavours and textures at a reasonable price compared to UK gourmet food. Highly recommended.

We visited this restaurant on our first night and couldn't have been happier. We wanted authentic Venetian cuisine and atmosphere and were recommended this restaurant. The menu was full of excellent Venetian dishes both historical and modern. The sommelier was very knowledgable and picked a perfect wine. The meal was excellent and the service first class. Definitely recommend this restaurant!

I booked this restaurant by email a couple of weeks before our trip to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday. Every step of the way the restaurant were delightful to deal with. Once at the restaurant things were even better, it is beautiful, very Venetian, quiet and beautifully decorated. Our waiter, Walter was utterly charming, fluent in 6 languages he made... More

Wow! Great welcome, great food and great service. The wine expert helps you choose the right wine for your meal which I have never had done before. It's not cheap but the food makes up for that. 5 stars from me and a big thank you to the restaurant.

Almost certainly not the cheapest place to eat in Venice but the combination of marvellous service, excellent food, very good wine (which was unusual and not badly priced) and beautiful décor made this one of the highlights of our weekend in Venice. Definitely worth a try but save room for the 4 course classical menu which at 68E was in... More

I booked this restaurant based on a previous good experience several years ago. The restaurant surpassed expectations. The food is either based on old recipes from the 14th, 15th and 16th century, with food consumed by the Doges of the time, or modern Venetian dishes. Service was excellent and the waiter was helpful in explaining the dishes. The food was... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
