This restaurant serves excellent seafood. The décor is traditional and the staff are lively and knowledgeable. It is very popular, so booking is advisable.

If you are on budget this place is not for you. Plates start at an average of $18 euro and are small. If you are not on a budget, indulge the delicious food and Grapa that they have to offer. They have a menu of the day with fresh options of seafood and fish, served with pasta or vegetables. I... More

We have grilled fish and shrimp. Very fresh and delicious. Spaghetti is also good, but not as good as Pontini.

We ate here 2 days ago and were very pleased with quality of the food. It isn't the usual tourist trap. The restaurant is very very small so need to book and in advance too which we did. We didn't manage to book for dinner but they had space for lunch so we went for that. We had the grilled... More

I came to this restaurant 17 years ago when it first opened and loved it then. I finally made it back and it has only gotten better! The owner is so warm and welcoming. He treated our 10 and 12 year old boys so wonderfully. The food is beyond delicious. Get the Prawns Busara style - literally my favorite dish... More

Small restaurant, maybe 20 seats. Made reservations in advance based on reviews and glad we did. Definitely off the beating path and away from the tourist traps. Food was amazing as well as the service. The seafood was fresh and well prepared. Pasta was cooked to perfection. Wine selection was great and reasonable.

Definitely need reservations -- and worth it. Excellent seafood. The menu is determined by what is fresh at the market that morning. It's all about the ingredients. Excellent food and service and ambiance.

1. Reserve, they have 2 sittings for dinner and very unlikely you can just walk in. 2. Be prepared to sit in a small room, touching elbows and exchanging words with the next table. 3. Have a very good meal with creative dishes.

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
