A tucked away gem of a Venetian restaurant

This is a delightful small restaurant with beautiful food and a lovely atmosphere. It isn't cheap but is well worth the price. The staff are helpful and friendly making the evening a most enjoyable experience. The restaurant is off the beaten track and it is essential to book,

Another favorite that I visit whenever in Venice, it's probably one the best restaurants in Venice with a focus on fresh fish and extraordinary preparation. Very few tables, two dinner seatings and must reserve with credit card. Do it and you won't be disappointed. Not precious or pretentious in any way.

We travel to Italy on business frequently, and have grown to love Venice (off season!) as one of the most amazing cities in the world. It is hard to navigate ones way through the tourist trap rip-offs but with careful planning and some wandering/getting lost patience some of the best food in the world lies hidden in the hidden corners... Definitely perfect place if you like quality food, great service. We went there two families with two kids (3,5 years old). Even they were naughty, no complaints!! The best fresh and that seafood, I had in my life. Thanks.

Everything about this place I loved! The quaintness of the restaurant made it very special. The food matched the service! both absolutely perfect! It was the the best seafood meal I have ever! This place is a contender for the most wonderful seafood restaurant in the world! The Razor clams will be in my memory for a long time!

The information on trip advisor is bad. I got here around 1430 and found that it was closed. It's closed till September I believe. Have to improvise and just grab a pizza nearby :S

Alle Testiere opened 23 years ago, we went there 11 years ago and again this week - it is still a very special and popular place. The food and service is great, they also have an excellent wine that they produce themselves. Do not even think about pitching up, you need to reserve in advance. It is not cheap, but... More

Excellent fish restaurant in a tiny side street just minutes from St Mark's Square. It takes a little finding but well worth the search. It is very small with only a few covers so would suggest that reservation is essential. (We reserved about two weeks before, a relatively straightforward process, though we had to put down a credit card deposit.)... More

Very Highly Recommended. We loved it here. The atmosphere in this packed and animated small restaurant was very convivial and the service friendly, efficient and helpful especially when you had such a good interesting menu. However the big thing with this restaurant is the food. Superb simple cooking of fresh fish and seafood. Special. The wine list is interesting. After... More

This restaurant serves excellent seafood. The décor is traditional and the staff are lively and knowledgeable. It is very popular, so booking is advisable.

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
