This was my first visit to Venice and I've been waiting for an opportunity to visit and dine at Alle Testiere. The reservations were made two months in advance and worth the wait. The staff was amazing. The wine recommendations were regional and perfect with the courses that we order. The fresh seafood did not disappoint. I would return to... More

A beautiful little taverna with a small number if tables. The staff is extremely friendly and outgoing! We had a terrific menu with some bay shrimp salad(divine) followed by braised turbot. The Tiramisu is possibly the best I ever had.

I don't eat fish as a rule which is not a good start when visiting this fish-only restaurant. Stupidly, I had imagined that they would have a token vegetable dish for non-fish eaters but on the nights [yes, we went there twice] they didn't. Like everywhere in Venice, AlleTestiere is hard to find. The sense of relief when we arrived... More

Made reservations a month in advance for this place with the small number of tables they only have two seating a seatings: 7 & 9 PM. The last time I was here two years ago, I raved to everyone that this was the best Branzino I ever had, mainly for its freshness and simplicity in preparation. I even made a... More

The food was delicious: giant shrimp to start, spaghetti vongole as primi and then for secondi grilled calamari and grilled prawns - thank goodness for the bread as the portions were far too civilised. Prosecco was only €18 and light and palatable. The total was €130 and considering neither of us was full up I have to consider it over... More

I found this restaurant in an old New York Times article and made a reservation weeks before going to Venice We were not disappointed, although the appetizer was not as good as the meal. It was soft shell crab time in Venice (many restaurants were offering it). We started with this and, well, it's better in Maryland. But, the entrees... More

Research (including here) would seem to indicate that this is a must-do. Don't. (You will anyway, of course -- and then you'll remember this.) Very nice and helpful staff and a pleasant atmosphere that are both so woefully underpaired with food that is so very average as to make you regret not just the price, but also the squandered opportunity... This is a small restaurant with two seatings, 7pm and 9pm. It is necessary to make reservations ahead of time. It is worth it! The seafood changes daily depending on what is fresh at the Rialto market that day. It does not get any better than that. I experienced flavors and freshness I never had before. Be sure to try... One of the best meals I have had in Venice. The service was excellent without being pretentious. The fish fantastic. If you like meat, this place is not for you but a perfectly grilled fish, the best. Not inexpensive but worth the price

I had intended to book this charming little place for a special occasion but it was fully booked. I'm glad I persisted though and accepted the offer of a table on our last night in Venice. It was a suitably impressive way to say goodbye to this magical city. Not only was the food excellent - the staff were extraordinarily... More
