wonderful little spot

We had an excellent lunch here while wandering around San Polo. It's a very cozy and friendly and attractive little restaurant, likeable owner and staff, and first-rate food. We began with a plate of roasted veggies that were perfectly prepared, then my wife had lasagna and I had the cuttlefish and... read more

I was lucky enough to find this wonderful bar on my first night in Venice, the food was perfect as was the service. Will be gong back there on my next trip to the most beautiful city.

This is a great place to chill and people watch with a nice glass of wine. Wine on tap at only 2 Euro. Awesome!

This is a fun little hole-in-the wall place on the main tourist drag between Rialto and Campo San Polo. We had dinner one night, the food was simple and well-prepared, maybe not haute cuisine but I found it satisfying and very inexpensive. The owner stands out front all night but doesn't try to drag people in (like at the tourist... More

We stopped by this place for a drink twice while we were in Venice. The owner was cool and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Live Music. It was just nice. Good prices for the area.

For a glass of wine and a snack. Owner himself is right there, talking to everyone. Take a break, sit down, watch people pass by, and enjoy!

The best pizza in all Italy. Family style with good service and home style Italian cooking. The best part is that is reasonable in price.

We found Da Sandro's to be significantly changed with our fall-2013 visit. The pizza portion of the business across the street is closed and the seating area has shrunk - - as has the menu choices. Back in 2006 it was well worth the effort to get here, but I can't say that today. Food was good, but for us,... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
