We visited this restaurant yesterday and also had a similar experience to a lady below. When we first arrived we were served by a lovely waiter (in the waistcoat) who was very helpful and gave advice on what dishes to choose etc. However when it started to fill up we were served by another two gentleman - one who was... Attended this restaurant this evening and as it is our last evening in Venice and we wanted somewhere a little special. This restaurant jumped out at us as being a slightly more up market venue with predominantly sea food dishes which is why we visited. Firstly I have to say the food was very very good and presented to a... More

We ate at the A Beccafico Arte on Dec 29th. Like other reviews, we noted that it wasn't very busy, but then we were early (19:30). The waiter was very attentive but not overbearing. The food was excellent. Both my wife and I started with the soup of the day, which was mussel soup. My wife had the chicken gorgazolla... More

Great food, impeccable service, peaceful atmosphere and worth every euro spent. Plus complimentary bruschetta topped off with a bottle of limoncello on the house! Highly recommended, will definitely visit against!

When we entered we were a bit apprehensive as there was only one other couple dining - was this just due it being the off session? It is a nice looking restaurant and the write ups have been good so we ordered. The food was very good and the wine excellent. The waiter was very attentive without being over bearing... More

It's hidden away behind a tall wall, but you'll find it quite close to the Chapel of San Felice on the Strada Nuova. We wandered in by chance, too see what was behind the wall, and were surprised to find this classy restaurant, on the main drag, but offering a subtly lit, peaceful courtyard as well as a stylishly furnished... We first experienced the superb quality of both food and service when we lunched here on a hot July day in 2014. We liked the courtyard setting and eating outdoors was a joy. We returned twice this month, both times for evening meals - this time indoors with smart, modern decor - and found the same high standard which had... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
