We stumbled upon this place on a rainy day looking for breakfast. What luck! The croissants and coffee were very good and their juices were amazing! Get a juice if you go.

We stopped outside to admire their snacks and the man was very open and friendly so we stopped for a bite and drink - they also had free wifi. The place is tiny so don't expect a seat but great for a quick break and it was a welcome

I'm so happy that we stumbled upon this place - we were walking towards some cicchetti places that I had read about on Trip Advisor and were getting hungry, so when we saw a sign in the window that said spritz hour - less than 5 euro for a spritz and pizza, we decided to stop. It ended up being... More

Stumbled upon this gem initially for a snack. We got what we referred to as a "pizza boat"! Looks like a long skinny stick of pizza...whatever it's called it was delicious! So simple, but done well. In the night we were searching out a bar for a pre dinner drink. Walked past again and saw this tiny place full of... More

This wee place is fab. It's open from early until half eight in the evening and we visited it at least twice a day everyday. The coffee in the morning is a must along with their pain au chocolat. Simply the best coffee in Venice. Then a glass of prosecco and a slice of their pizza at lunchtime. You will... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
