We got looked after by the boys from Brasilia.

My wife and I called into the Cafe Brasilia late Saturday afternoon, it was a hot day, we sat inside and cooled down with a very large ice cold beer. Came for a coffee with my friend, the bartender refused to let us use the toilet and made us buy our drinks first, in fact he leaped across the room to prevent us, pretty funny to see I guess. Nothing is free in venice and this place was the pinnacle of that ideology. Furthermore, I was charged an extra euro... More

The staff was quite fluent in English and French, making ordering and paying very easy! We both had a tasty sandwich and an aperol spritz. Chips were offered for free. This cost us 16 euros - which is fine, considering the location. Would recommend for a quick snack and a drink!

It would appear the TripAdvisor location is a few streets of, so when we finally found this place we were ravenous! We had two huge salads, drinks and bread, and still got change from ?20! I was advised to order from the counter, the chap serving was very pleasant, but had strong views on what I should choose! After advising... More

We found this by luck, it is tucked away but what a find. great coffee, great cakes and also putting up with my feeble attempts at Italian. This is used by a lot of locals but we were made to feel very welcome

Attended simply on trip advisor reviews and glad we did! The most amazing coffee and hot choc followed by a few glasses of wine. Very reasonably priced, numerous plates of free nibbles throughout our stay and the best cheerful service we have had whilst in Venice!! The whole atmosphere was just perfect!

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
