Fresh Coffee

I finally was able to stop by here and taste the espresso that everyone on TA has been raving about. The coffee was great as expected and the staff was very friendly. I ended up taking some whole beans to go. I appreciated that for the beans to go, the prices were broken down "per etto" so you... read more

The coffee is good, the place has an amazing coffee smell, but the staff is not particularly friendly and make the place much less interesting than it could be. If you need a quick coffee, it's ok. If you want a bit more of an experience, walk a few blocks to Cafe Filermo.

We will be dreaming of this coffee shop for years. The coffee is roasted in-house and dished out in a business-like way. The espresso is perfect... and the price? .90 Euros!!!! Our favorite time to arrive is as early as possible. We each ordered a cappuccino and a chocolate brioche and savored it right at the counter. Our bill was... More

After reading the reviews and enjoying nothing more than the pleasure of a really good freshly ground coffee I knew I had to go and find this little coffee house. I am so glad I did, what a gem it was. Although I was prepared for it to be busy I was more than pleasantly surprised when my nose detected... More

This is a quick service walk up espresso bar. The bean quality is excellent. Don't expect a five course breakfast. This is an espresso/pastry place. Give it a try for an authentic Venetian experience!

Fresh and excellent coffee. This is a place where local people go for shopping. Very cute place where you can see how they roast their coffee, but bear in mind there is no place for sitting ! Prices are very reasonable.

Awesome place to drink a great espresso ground just before making and chosen from a great variety, for 0.90 euro; to take home some fresh beans or ground coffees from the same varieties; or to take the same coffees as gifts for other coffee lovers. They also have other coffee drinks, some pastries and "moka" machines to sell, and the... More

Shouldn't be in same category as restaurants to eat a meal because this is just for coffee or a tiramisu, but great at what they do and friendly too. Excellent espresso and granitos (frozen slush) of coffee! And can take bags of coffee as a nice gift.

This place is not to be missed. The coffee is incredible, and we saw quite a few locals grabbing a quick caffè, or beans for the week. They can pack coffee for you for your return trip, or you can just enjoy a drink at their bar, overlooking their roasting equipment. This place is a gem, and completely non-touristy. We... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
