great position, great wine

like all the water fronted restaurants, food is very pricey. But, throw in the view, the service, the wine and the atmos, you can't really complain.

Located right on the river, the restaurant offers great views and is not super touristy. Nothing special on the menu, but a plate of buffalo mozzarella and a pizza with bresola and parmesan were honest and not too overpriced. Service is friendly though a bit distracted.

The terrace outside the restautant has a great view. But the service is not so nice and the food I really didn't like. It was supposed to be a pasta with tomato sauce and cheese but...where was the cheese? And it was really greasy. The waiters disn't even asked me if I want olive oil or something similar and the... This place was convenient for us, being near the apartment we stayed in, and also being able to reserve through TripAdvisor. There's nothing to complain about this restaurant, but not much to speak for it either. Of the seven or so dishes we ordered, about half were very good, and the other half rather blah. Compared to other restaurants in... More

We wanted a light lunch and we stopped here. The service at first was good and the food was great. Price was ok. The views of the canal are awesome. But at the end of the meal the service dropped like a stone in the canal the 5 waiters stood around talking and brushed us off. I asked for the... More

We went to this restaurant because it was in Rick Steves book, but wouldn't recommend it. We ordered 1 pizza and 2 beers and paid 32.40 euros. They charged 5.40 for a cover charge, and 7 euros for each beer. The pizza was just average. It's located along the Giudecca Canal and has a great view. Skip this restaurant, walk... More

We had a fantastic lunch on a wam October day. The sun was shining and it was the perfect spot to have lunch. The restaurant is south facing so you are nice and warm and the kids are easily entertained by the boats and canal traffic. It is he great as well because is away from the tourist path.

A very nice location over the canal facing out, great for a spring or summer afternoon. The food was nice but the drinks were very expensive, 7 euro for a beer.

Just finished a lovely meal at this restaurant! Terrific location along the water. The service and food were both great. Get the ricotta/spinach ravioli with smoked cheese and sage butter to start (split with someone if you aren't super hungry..). Awesome!

We decided to stop at this restaurant for a bottle of champagne, as we were celebrating a birthday and this restaurant had some nice views. With the bottle of Champagne they provided some canapes....... A piece of lettuce which had cheese and a cherry tomato on top. The gesture was nice.....however when we looked closely the lettuce was completely mouldy... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
