Great Terrace

We had a fantastic lunch on a wam October day. The sun was shining and it was the perfect spot to have lunch. The restaurant is south facing so you are nice and warm and the kids are easily entertained by the boats and canal traffic. It is he great as well because is away from the tourist path.

We went to this restaurant because it was in Rick Steves book, but wouldn't recommend it. We ordered 1 pizza and 2 beers and paid 32.40 euros. They charged 5.40 for a cover charge, and 7 euros for each beer. The pizza was just average. It's located along the Giudecca Canal and has a great view. Skip this restaurant, walk... More

A very nice location over the canal facing out, great for a spring or summer afternoon. The food was nice but the drinks were very expensive, 7 euro for a beer.

Just finished a lovely meal at this restaurant! Terrific location along the water. The service and food were both great. Get the ricotta/spinach ravioli with smoked cheese and sage butter to start (split with someone if you aren't super hungry..). Awesome!

We decided to stop at this restaurant for a bottle of champagne, as we were celebrating a birthday and this restaurant had some nice views. With the bottle of Champagne they provided some canapes....... A piece of lettuce which had cheese and a cherry tomato on top. The gesture was nice.....however when we looked closely the lettuce was completely mouldy... More

The patio overlooking the canal cannot be beat. Flower boxes and white table cloths make this a lovely spot to enjoy the sun going down. The food was decent and there was a menu in multiple languages though as a Canadian I had to think about rocket (some type of lettuce) and it was speck on both the Italian and... More

Probably one of the most romantic outdoor dinners I have ever had. Excellent service and a sunset view to die for. In one of the lesser tourist areas. Lobster very well prepared and recommendation on the wine perfect. If you want to impress your date book a table for sunset. 100 euros for a couple and a bargain. Constantine offered... More

Situated on the sea side of Academia which is probably one of the least touristy areas, we always return to this restaurant and it has never let us down. If its warm and sunny eat on the terrace built out over the water. Food is excellent ranging from traditional fish courses to grilled meats to pizzas/pastas - all very reasonably... More

Enjoyed the food & view greatly. when we first sat down (where waiter asked us to sit), it made it hard for people to get by. The waiter said to someone in English "sorry we have tourists here." Really? Don't seat us somewhere & then apologize for us. but there was a mix up with the menu which they handled... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
