We stopped here for an ice cream one sunny day in Venice. We only had one scoop of ice cream, but the portion was very generous for 1.5 euros. The scoop was far bigger than at other places we had walked by. I had a cherry ice cream which had huge succulent cherries in it. My husband had a lemon... More

Wonderful taste of Gelato, but it is more expensive than comparable Gelatos, but with smaller portions of Gelato. But still recommending.

They have ice cream non lactose also! The taste is good but there is no place to sit. The location is good if you pass the the bridge Rialto.

Stumbled across this lovely ice cream parlor completely by accident, what a find. The strawberry and Happy Squirrel flavors (Peanut Butter) were amazing. Will try to find it again today.

This place definitely deserves its rating. Actually it deserves more - I am surprised there are people scoring it below 4... but different people, different preferences. I love ice-cream and everywhere I go I try the local one. People always say italian ice-cream is the best, but until I tried this one I didn't really know what's the fuss about... More

We dropped in for gelato before visiting the basilica. We tried the amoretti & cherry and melon and caramel and melon. We both loved the melon flavour - fantastic!

I don't even like ice cream and still went a second time... :-). Especially the pistachio ice cream was very good and large scoops as well!

This became a regular stop during our stay - fave flavours included Amarena (cherry) and Happy Squirrel. Also seemed to be popular with locals.

I've tried many gelato places but this one is definitely not serving gelato but simply regular ice cream. Even though Gelato and Ice Cream is generally the same thing the gelato has different proportion of milk and cream and they missed that part! It tasted almost like buying an ice cream from the grocery store. This review based on my... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
