This is a few minutes from Venice Santa Lucia, it has a few tables by a beautiful bridge on a canal with gondolas going past, it has peach cake worth visiting for, a lovely selection of tea to pick from Darjeeling to herbal, service was charming and the gondolas were stopping right next to us so they could pop in... We had a break here in the afternoon. We were attracted by the wonderful look of the sweets behind the shop window and in particular by "Tiramisù" and "Dolce della Casa" (with peaches in syrup). Very tasty and good price (1,10 € for a pastry served on a little plate with a dessert spoon/fork)!

They live up to their reputation - definitely a must stop whenever you are in town. on a side canal (aren't they all?)... a few tables both outside and inside, but was just perfect to sit back and relax with a cappuccino and sweet

Wow!! This pasticceria has some mighty fine cakes on offer. They are super fresh and so delicately made. This place will have you coming back to sample some more of these goodies. Situated right by a canal with just a few outdoor tables.

While the Hotel Basilia provided breakfast, the Pasticceria Rio Marin was our first stop for coffee and a cigarette, and a frequent midday retreat for another cappuccino. The pastries are excellent, and you can't beat sitting on one of the cafe tables outside on the canal. An essential part of our stay at the Basalia just up the canal.

We happened to stop into this nice little bakery quite accidentally while wandering the various neighborhoods of Venice. It was a great oasis on a quiet canal at the end of a long day of exploring the city. We ordered three types of tiramisu at the suggestion of the nice lady serving us and were not disappointed. It's their specialty.... More

A great place for a quick coffee and pastry at the counter or can sit at the canal tables. The tiramisu is very good as are the brioche.

As above. The tiramisu seemed to be made with whipped cream rather than zabaglione. I didn't taste a hint of mascarpone. But the coffee was good and the location charming. Perhaps the other pastries are better.

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
