Surprisingly good food

Had seen mixed reviews so slightly cautious on entering. Made to feel welcome, food was great. Smoked tuna and swordfish starter was huge, fillet of beef in 3 peppercorn sauce was fantastic, really tender. Pasta and fish was excellent. More authentic than the tourist traps, well worth a visit... read more

Arrived just after 8pm on a Sunday night, good welcome and the menu looked varied, although it did seem odd that none of the other 10 occupied tables had any food on them. So, after 45 Minutes we asked for some bread, 15 minutes after this (1hr ellapsed) our starter arrived. 40 minutes after the starter our second plate arrived.... More

Me and my wife went here two times during our visit in Venice April 2015. First time we went here due to high ratings at Tripadvisor and due to the location close to our hotel Domina Home Casusto. We were positively surprised by moderate to low pricing, combined with quick food service and food that tasted very very well. We... More

Definitely a neighbourhood restaurant. Took a bit of finding, but it was our first night! We sat in the large covered garden area. Delicious home cooked food - huge king prawns! Friendly and efficient service and certainly good value for money.

We fall upon this restraurant when we tried going to another that ended up shut on wednesdays. We noticed from the menu it was extremely good value at a litre of house prosecco for 14 euros and a set 3 course meal for 16 euros. We were greeted by very friendly staff and sitted immediately. The food came which was... More

If you would like to visit authentic italian „trattoria“ this restaurant would be a good choice with mixture of locals and foreign tourists. You do not expect any culinary art but virtuos local and seafood cusine for moderate price. The pasta, two kind of pizzas and meat dish as well were tasty and performance of waiters steady and effective.

Went there the other night for dinner and had fish antipasti (which lacked salt) and different pasta dishes. Very friendly staff, average food, but bit too pricey for what they offer.

We recently had an excellent lunch at Alla Ferrata and can highly recommend this restaurant. We were seated at the back in a covered garden part of the restaurant which I presume is opened up in the Summer months. The restaurant was full of locals and workers on their lunch breaks. Service was prompt and efficient and we were advised... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
