Beautiful interior, good food, but less creative than expected

I was looking forward to this, both from the beautiful interior restoration I had seen walking by many times, and from the Asian/Venetian fusion idea, given the dearth of ethnic food in Venice. I was a little disappointed that the menu still tilts heavily toward the Venetian. I had two grilled... read more

Lovely little restaurant tucked away in the Castello region of Venice. I have coeliacs and therefore needed gluten free options. Although the restaurant did not serve gluten free pasta like some others I'd seen, they were very much aware of my requirements, so we decided upon this restaurant for our last meal just because of the lovely atmosphere. The food... More

Eclectic menu - everything that we ordered was amazing. Alfredo clearly loves what he does and his joy in the menu is evident in the quality of the food. Absolutely the best meal we had in Venice. Beautifully decorated & excellently priced. Lots of places will provide you with really wonderful grilled fish, pasta etc - but when you need... More

After being in Venice for a few days and having a lot of overpriced, not that good food this really made a change. Great atmosphere, great service, great food... Still not cheap but worth it. Compared to what you mainly get in Venice this is really different. We really enjoyed it!

From the moment we arrived (without reservation) we were made to feel heartly welcome and very much valued. Despite the fusion menu you can expect venetian hospitality at its very best and a quality in the food that outweighs the price, we left absolutely satisfied in terms of the quality in cuisine but the countless little 'extras' and the genuine... We had an amazing lunch here. It's away from the crowds and we sat outside and watched the gondolas go by. This is proper Venetian food rather than some of the other touristy places. It is quite expensive but we felt it was worth it, especially as the champagne and bread were free! The owner was absolutely charming and took... More

This is a fantastic restaurant. We took the 'Whole Trip' and had a wonderful evening of food. I am usually extremely fussy but this was splendid. The dim sum was superb as was the service, the wine and the room. There is so much tat in Venice that to find interesting food is a relief. And the music was just... More

The place is nice and cosy and has a nice feel, was a little cold though. But the food was overpriced in relation to the quality the staff were friendly and the bill did arrive with the correct amount on it.

Went here because it was recommended by our hotel and was one of the few places open on Epiphany, and so glad we did. It's small. Make reservations for sure. The 'theme' is Asian/Venetian Fusion ala Marco Polo but it's not as trendy or forced as that sounds. we had one of the best meals of our trip there and... More

One of the very best meals I've had in Venice. Wonderful spot (very tiny) off the beaten track but not far from it (San Zaccaria vaporetto stop/Danieli Hotel area). Try the Asian Seafood Pot.

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
