Don't forget to indulge yourself with squid ink pasta

I'm really obsessed with the Spaghetti al Nero di Seppia (squid ink pasta) so I ate it almost everyday during my 6-day stay in Venice. I had tried 4 or 5 places before Fantasia indeed, however the one I got in this restaurant was absolutely delicious and incredibly cheap compared to other... read more

On our first night in Venice we found this little restaurant. The Negroni was well iced and the local wine was cheerful. We both had pasta and the food was very tasty. Lots of Italians eating which we took to be a good sign too.

We came across this place and it looked warm on a cold day. The menu looked ok and the prices not to bad for Venice. We ordered pizza and a bottle of wine and we waited. Sitting waiting felt like we had stumbled upon a creche and we had to listen to the young staff chit chatting and smoking outside... More

I had the piatto del giorno (dish of the day) which was spaghetti with seafood and it was amazing! It only cost 12€ and I paired it with a glass of red house wine. I highly recommend Ristoro Fantasia to anyone looking for a nice quiet and affordable place to eat true venetian food.

This place is horrible Service is very bad Non of the servers speaks English and just tell you yes yes. Food is not eatable. Don't waste your time and money on this place. There are much better places in Venice.

Honestly we went to this place for dinner out of desperation. I am a North American dining with South Americans who like to eat at 10pm when most of the restaurants in Venice are closing. I was very irritated to be forced not to eat or eat at this restaurant/bar that had a futbol/soccer game on. I thought it would... More

Terrible service - waited over an hour for our pizzas to arrive. Food was average at best. Drinks were ok but we were not asked if we wanted another one after our first drink

We'd eaten well just across the street in this quiet area recommended by our concierge, and one family member wanted pizza, so we tried Fantasia despite having misgivings early on about the indifferent decor, absence of other customers, and awkward and not very welcoming waitress. As another commenter mentioned, the AC was illusory. The food took a while (with no... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
