Excellent pizza

Stopped for a late lunch - had some great pizzas - freshly made pizza dough, and tasty good quality ingredients made these the best we ate in Venice. Air con and Beers not quite cold enough on a very hot day.

We'd eaten well just across the street in this quiet area recommended by our concierge, and one family member wanted pizza, so we tried Fantasia despite having misgivings early on about the indifferent decor, absence of other customers, and awkward and not very welcoming waitress. As another commenter mentioned, the AC was illusory. The food took a while (with no... More

Stepped in to get out of the stifling heat and humidity. They claimed to have air conditioning but it was just over the front door to entice customers. Inside was hot with no airflow. Service was typically bad as it appears to be most places in Italy. Food was surprisingly good and not too expensive considering it was close to... More

We rented an apartment for a long weekend in Venice and asked our Landlord where he would go for dinner. He recommended this restaurant, Fantasia, which was real close to our apartment so we went the second night we were there. It was fantastico! The food, the staff, the wine! Everything was to our liking and we ate off of... More

We enjoyed a fresh made pizza and draught beer here. It was delicious and the service was friendly. Like most restaurants in Europe it was not speedy. There was no coverage charge for seating.

Had the menu fisso in the evening which comes with 0.5 litre of wine, and 2 courses for €18. We chose the spaghetti with clams and squid cooked in black ink served with polenta. I did not love the polenta and the squid was a bit greasy. The spaghetti was good, had lots of clams and was very tasty. We... More

I stopped in this restaurant for to have a beer. The place look very nice but I paid 6€ for a beer, it's too expensive in my opinion, also in Venice.

2 years ago i was advised by the local to come eat here. since than I come back every time I am in venice, i have been already 3 times and i never got disappointed. i usually order a plate of mixed starters for two, with everything they have that day, it obviously varies each time, but local specialties are... We visited this place very late at night & after a very stressful arrival into Venice. The prices of the menu caught our attention so we decided to stay & eat. I got the two course meal for 18€ with spaghetti & clams & the squid & polenta with a beer. The spaghetti was ok with a few clams unopened... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
